You need a storyline with real weight because a storyline with no weight would reveal the terrifying possibility that you are just another person having a normal Tuesday. That is the deeper narcissism. You would rather be a tragic hero than a nobody. You would rather be broken in a unique and beautiful way than admit that your problems are mostly the same boring problems everyone has.
