This discourse has been so depressing as a gamedev
I've never really handled the story / art side, I've always focused on the stuff you interact with - UI/UX, networking, gameplay, etc
It feels like people are saying that the parts I enjoy working on don't matter at all

why the hell do you all care so much about being 'fans'. thats the core of this issue because its just exacerbating how awful fandom culture is, people just wanna be seen as a fan for external validation and so they can participate in useless discourse

Actually to elaborate on that last thought a bit, the outrage wasn’t even because there are no guns or balls, but because „kill” wasn’t a valid way to interact with the world. The gun and ball gamer is so entrenched in their niche that they can’t fathom another way except killing

The ball and gun gamer gets so much hate because they only played a tiny handful of genres, and demand that every game they play conform to that. Remember the outrage over not being able to kill anything in Subnautica 2? That was gnb gamers

@logbathelucario They were incredibly far away, and the whole point of the fight was a training excercise for Josuke.
If anything it proves how powerful SP is since he could remove the tiny bit of mutating flesh before it could spread, without injuring him more than necessary

A really weird quirk of this game is that when playing the Institute route there's no evidence whatsoever that the Institute is actually doing this. A sort of bizarre deutercanonical fork where what the Institute's actual plan is retroactively depends on you joining them, or not.
