@IMAO_ Funny joke and all but: "Perfect story" which came from a book. "Perfect casting" for like 2.75 important physical characters (Grace, Hueller, Carl=.5, Yao=.25) and the voice of a third. Is finding a good book, ~4 good, role fitting actors, and a good director that hard?

Project Hail Mary shows how easy it is to make movies people want to see. Just have a great story, perfect casting, and perfect directing, and people will love it. Simple.

@fort_cringe Mordecai and Rigby would definitely drink boba, but the series being called "the lost tapes", along with how the original series ended, makes me think this will be set before any of the space stuff in the original. If I'm correct, boba would be incongruous.

@PalmyrPar Literally everything but MDs and, if they were actually real, psychological doctors. Those are the only two professions where route memorization of facts is important. Everything else is just learning how to produce outcomes through physical actions.

There are a ridiculous amount of professions that obviously should’ve been kept to master/apprentice learning methods rather than transferred to the university structure.

@BigDickBarclay He wasn't doing it for the group, he was doing it for his friend. In his final message to Earth he doesn't linger on how "Rocky's entire planet will die" he lingers on how Rocky faces a possibly slow death from a source that's unidentifiable to him.

@BigDickBarclay Ok but the whole point there is the character development. He becomes braver throughout the movie (spacewalk to grab capsule, taking off helmet in tube, going outside of ship in planet's atmosphere), culminating in what he believes to be a certain death sacrifice for a friend.

The whole plot of the book/movie is that the protag is selfish and refuses to sacrifice himself for his people but HEY WAIT A MINUTE I made a new friend from an outside group and they are pretty smart and cool. Better sacrifice myself for them instead. JUST KIDDING the outsiders are SOOOOOOOOO smart and noble and cool they just live in paradise with no rock on rock violence and they will take care of me for being such a good boy.
