Update: @JSeyff and I are increasing our odds of spot Ether ETF approval to 75% (up from 25%), hearing chatter this afternoon that SEC could be doing a 180 on this (increasingly political issue), so now everyone scrambling (like us everyone else assumed they'd be denied). See Nate's tweet below for probably order of events (but again we capping at 75% until we see more, eg filing updates)

Yesterday, we received reports of people seeing unknown approval transactions in their transaction history.
It turns out that this is a new scam where scammers use so-called gas tokens to steal money when victims revoke these "fake approvals".

Contracts can emit anything in events. Spoof attacks where it looks like snoop dogg bought a scam NFT but the tx doesn't originate from his address.
Events missing, traces can conflict, some internal tx can fail w/o entire tx failing.

This Transfer events are tracked by wallet trackers such as @zerion and @DeBankDeFi , appearing in user history.
Scammers used this to their advantage, generated bunch events for some of the whales wallets, which fellow degens can follow and ape into same coin.
