Three footballers here who played at levels that were great for their careers. Very high levels. Benni McCarthy won the UEFA Champions League with Porto. Quinton Fortune played for Manchester United. Aaron Mokoena played in the Premier League with Portsmouth and Blackburn. Nowadays, South African footballers are content sitting at home and dominating Amazulu before thrashing others in the CAF CL. They should go out, touch grass and play football. They won’t face an unserious Super Eagles team all the time.

Nigeria doesn’t have a history of xenophobia! You people just heard “Nigerians expelled Ghanaians” once in the 70s and just assumed it’s xenophobia! The Nigerian Government gave Ghanaians who lived and worked in Nigeria illegally an ultimatum to leave as a cover up for their own economic mismanagement. Nigerians weren’t going about murdering them, destroying their livelihoods or pressurizing the government to expel them. If you’re going to have an opinion about something so controversial you can atleast spend five minutes to research it to avoid looking like an idiot. Xenophobia presents as fear or dislike of foreigners and its usually displayed through abuse and harassment of foreigners! Nothing like that has ever happened in Nigerian history! Get your fucking facts right

The Government of Ghana is repatriating 327 Ghanaians from La Côte d'Ivoire following a mass demolition exercise by Ivorian authorities. 228 arrived in Ghana safely yesterday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ special consular intervention of bringing back home Ghanaians and their belongings is to guarantee the protection and welfare of our stranded compatriots. The Ministry is grateful to all those who brought this development to our attention and conveys appreciation to our diplomatic mission in Abidjan and Ivorian authorities for the effective cooperation and welcome promise of compensation. For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏

Yesterday’s FIFA World Cup Opening showed what this handful of hateful Ntelezi idiots have done for South Africa’s international reputation and decades of goodwill. All the genuine outrage against illegal immigration has drowned under their violent acts, human rights violations and threats while they run around the country barefoot telling us they are “men” Decades of goodwill built on international solidarity, opposition to Israeli genocide in Palestine, cooperation with other nations, gone to dust. Football is a global language where even politics find expression, and these jokes about how SA at the World Cup is in a “rush to go home and defend their jobs and women” or how “They can’t attack Mexico because they are not African and Black” - this is not only banter, it’s political satire It shows how the world view is shifting towards viewing South Africa as a hub of hate, something that has never been part of our identity. I mean we are being compared to Argentina and Morocco, who have committed human rights atrocities against Africans respectively. The State should take responsibility for allowing hate groups which stop children at clinics, schools, beat people and in some instances incite murder, to define our international identity. It’s not a joke, and we cannot banter our way out of it. It’s a stain. South Africa being regarded as the hate capital of Africa at a FIFA World Cup would have been unimaginable in 2010. Israel is smiling wherever it is, because its mission accomplished. We have lost our moral authority on the global stage.

Example of how FIFA deals with a freelance journalist @tomyarguelles is a Venezuelan 🇻🇪 sports journalist based in Dallas, USA. He contributes to various international media outlets and social media platforms: - Balonazos (Venezuela) - Alerta Mundial News (Spain) - TTWCS (USA) Like all journalists, Arguelles applied for accreditation via FIFA’s media platform. To do so, you must register the media outlet you work for. He chose to list ‘Balonazos’ alongside his Venezuelan press card. Once accepted – albeit belatedly – the application required a specific code that the national football association of the media outlet in question had to provide to the journalist. However, the Venezuelan Football Federation had received only six codes and had already allocated them, given the delays on FIFA’s part in processing Arguelles’ application. When he approached FIFA’s media department to resubmit his application using one of the other media outlets he works for, his request was flatly rejected. Embarrassed, the Venezuelan Football Federation asked FIFA for an additional code so that the journalist could obtain his accreditation. The request was refused again, even though it was the delay caused by FIFA’s media department – which the organisation itself acknowledged – that was at the root of the problem. Worse still, FIFA had the audacity to tell Arguelles that he was “welcome” to cover the World Cup but only “through the proper channels” via the Venezuelan Football Federation. A strange message: with FIFA, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a professional journalist or not, but simply that you have followers; the more you have, the more welcome you really are. The others, the less well-known ones, can just keep waiting
