This went live today. It turns out the key to internal comms success is wigs. Lots of wigs.

Sometimes I look around myself and wonder, why am I recording a pastiche of the Run DMC + Aerosmith Walk this Way video, with a cast of dozens, entirely over MS Teams. How is this allowed? Why has no-one told us to stop? #internalcomms is a good job.

I just committed the dreaded #internalcomms double-correction, where you send a correction on an all staff email/invitation, and then have to correct the correction. I will now be hibernating until Spring 2021.

@turrentPRO In a previous company, we got our entire Tech leadership team sing a cover version of JayZ/ Alicia Keys' Empire State of Mind (lyrics changed to 'now you're in IT' 🤣 & also learn a hip hop dance routine for it for end of year event. Epic times, love the fun in #internalcomms!

We even have a home schooling group now for people to share tips and offer to run Skype sessions around subjects that appeal to kids. Lots of good community, which is what Yammer's all about. Still planning to have a run at 'view from your window' as an organised thing, soon.

A week later, and Yammer is definitely busier than normal. I haven't had to push anything yet, people are organically generating conversations around coping strategies and sharing pics of pets.

Looking ahead to many weeks of home working, are any other #internalcomms people thinking about ways of building community on Yammer/ESNs? What's the digital equivalent if Italians singing from balconies? Would be lovely if we could share examples of ideas that work!

@dosomethingkim Coronavirus is pushing the issue though. We already have requests for guidance on using Teams effectively

@dosomethingkim Sounds similar here. We have an informal pilot where a handful of teams are making good use, including IC, but had planned a full campaign at the end of the year
