Aid systems are under severe strain. Communal kitchens are struggling to meet growing demand, while funding cuts are limiting the ability of humanitarian organizations to respond. Women and girls are among the most affected, facing heightened risks of violence and rapes when going to fields, markets, or even collecting water. Alexander “Xander” Kazanowski, 25, was brutally beaten in the early morning of Tuesday, March 24, in the Avondale neighborhood.
