#DunePartTwo is a real epic game-changer. More of an expansion of the novel’s themes than a 1:1 adaptation, it levels up everything that made Part One so great. Leave it to Denis to craft a masterpiece like this. It’s intimate, yet grand in scale. THIS is what sci-fi SHOULD be.

Because it was Craig’s idea to take it in that direction. And he’s an incredible filmmaker. When the screenplay was first written, it likely wasn’t Mad Max space western. Craig said himself that he read the script and came up with the visual language he wanted for the story, collecting images that expressed that intended aesthetic before sharing it with Gunn for approval. This is what happens when you have creator driven films where they’re allowed to put their own creative imprint and voice in their work.

SUPERGIRL is a bold, fresh and lively film that lets this iconic character shine. Milly Alcock is the highlight. She's jaded and brash, yet optimistic and so damn cool. Craig Gillespie’s vibrant direction has stylish needledrops and hyperfast action. Pace is short and sweet. Some interesting changes from the comic, including villain being simpler, and scale being smaller but sharper.

SUPERGIRL is not at all what I was expecting. I, too, assumed “superhero space movie with needle drops” would have a similar tone to GOTG or even Superman. Instead it looks and plays more like a Mad Max movie, with dirty worlds, gross villains and a self destructive hero

Backrooms was so visually sure of itself I walked out of the theater with SUCH a buzzzzz. The story itself isn’t strong but the world Kane Parsons built is beautifully arresting and I can’t wait to see what he does next :’). Watching his storytelling evolve is gonna be soooo fun!

Forgotten Island features Philippines cult stories and culture Hexed is co-produced by a Filipina, but the film is American centric instead Sorry, guys. But Forgotten Island is more Philippine Philippine than Hexed. So judge my thoughts with a grain of sugar.
