@HieroMyk GURPS felt incredibly daunting when I first read it, but in hindsight, it's amazing how modular that game is. You really *can* just pick and mix whatever rules you want/need for a certain campaign. I usually prefer a little more flavor with my rules, though, but GURPS is *solid*.

@vv_onezero The fantasy trip does this. If you used gurps lite you could emulate something as light as b/x without going as far as Dungeon Fantasy. Wouldn’t take long.

Kinda wish more OSR games would experiment with 3d6 for task resolution instead of using the d20. Don't get me wrong, I get that d20s are iconic as fuck, but they're soooo swingy. Bell curves are much more satisfying in play.

@godslittleloser I was thinking of the WN games when I wrote that tweet! They're not 3d6, but the bell curve is still there for basic resolution. I really like that approach, even if I'm not keen on skills (they're usually just bloat).

@howland_nick Oh, wow, kinda wish they'd made a full series out of that concept, now. Don't get me wrong, the racing show is rad, but those fights are insane. Reminds of Heavy Gear.

Just found out about IGPX, and I'm shocked that an anime with such a cool concept managed to slip under my radar for so long. It apparently had a few runs on American Toonami (AND a PS2 game), but it was never aired here in Brazil. The mech races are SO fun!!

An attempt was made. I might need to reduce the blur on the mech's silhouette (based on a model by Michael Schiffer I found at Unsplash), but this turned out way better than expected. PS2 covers were the biggest inspiration here.

@korz_john I'm a sucker for acronyms, but Kriegwalkers is much more "recognizable". I'd probably add the meaning of HAWK-R beneath the "logo" as a subtitle of sorts, but still, there's an unfortunate similarity to an old mecha game called HAWKEN. Might be legally iffy.

After much deliberation (as in, a little over 30 minutes), I landed on two possible titles: KRIEGWALKERS and HAWK-R (Heavy Armored Walker/Krieger Riders). Which do y'all prefer?

Has anyone made a mecha hack of World of Dungeons before? Because I think I just wrote one. No idea what I'm gonna do for the title, and this is probably not gonna have a cover (can't draw mechs for shit), but I think the layout's in the bag, as is the character sheet.

@HieroMyk Mm, I'd say the core gameplay loop is probably gonna be mission/operation based, so it's closer to Shadowrun than to dungeon crawling. With that in mind, I don't think the WoDu naming convention would be a great fit. Probably gonna go with Kriegwalkers.

@vv_onezero … close to what World of Dungeons can be about. There’s a bit of a trad of doing a variation on the name of what you’ve based a game on. But if it is just a mechanical relationship, and style, but about quite different concepts, then Kriegwalkers works.

@ReeseSurles HAWKEN is precisely the reason why I'm tempted to go with Kriegwalkers, sadly. I don't wanna get sued for plagiarism, and HAWK-R was unintentionally too close to HAWKEN. Love the acronym, though, and it's such a cool PC title.

@vv_onezero HAWK-R, Kriegwalkers feels like a mouthful, HAWK-R feels like a solid title for the book plus the PCs, and it's more evocative. It also reminds me of the game HAWKIN, it died but everyone loved it, so it's a good connection
