My best friend was a professor of Arabic history, who was fluent in the language. He was generally anti-Israel but not rabidly so (we disagreed on that). He told me about the Arab slave trade in Africa. I asked him why there wasn’t a surviving black population in Arabia. He explained to me that the Western slave trade stole peoples from the coasts inward, sailing victims to the New World. About 10% of those taken died en route, which of course is dreadful. The Arab slavers came from the interior. Their slaves were marched up through the heart of Africa north. The trip on foot took much longer and was far more rigorous than the European shipping route. He said it’s estimated that 90% of the slaves taken by the Arabs died en route. So Arabia TOOK as many slaves as the West, but they didn’t make it. The poor Africans took it on the chin. With Arabs from inside and Whites from the coasts they were trapped.
