Buying Arlington Park without doing the due diligence to see if it was politically viable to secure public funds to build there is the reason we are here folks. They might actually be better off selling back the land, writing down the loss and starting from square 1 - if they want to stay in state.

I think the Bears stadium in Arlington Heights is dead without PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) legislation. Taxes without PILOT would be $54 million a year, per the Cook County Treasurer report. Will the collapse of the PILOT bill force the Bears to consider staying in Chicago?

I’m actually pretty pissed at how badly they’ve bungled America 250. First they tried to invite Milli Vanilli and a bunch of other absurdly washed up geriatric one hit wonders. Then when that didn’t work they decided to convert the event into a Trump rally where Trump will talk about himself for 90 minutes. This should have been a massive, raucous celebration of the country and its 250 year history. Now it will be a political rally identical to the ten million other ones we’ve already seen.

This is exactly it. People weren’t coming to Wrigleyville to go to an arcade or bowl, even on non-game days. The kind of place that’s gonna thrive there is either going to be a brewery or a sports bar that makes enough on game days to offset the non-game days.
