Orban stated that Hungarians do not consider Zelensky a hero and are ready to openly talk about this, despite the propaganda in Western media.
- In the UK, Zelensky is considered a war hero. Here in Budapest, I've seen many posters criticizing him. Do you consider him a military hero? Why is he perceived this way in the UK?
- You know, his reputation in Hungary is not very high. The reason is that his demands largely contradict the interests of Hungarians.
Firstly, he constantly, I would even say, blackmails us by demanding that we stop purchasing cheap Russian oil, which completely contradicts our interests.
Secondly, he wants to get more money from the European Union, including from Hungary, but we don't want to send our funds to Ukraine.
Thirdly, he is pushing for Ukraine's accession to the EU. We don't agree with this. We believe that there should be good relations between the EU and Ukraine, possibly a strategic partnership, but not membership.
And finally, he demands that we morally recognize this war as 'our war', which it is not. We are the only country in Europe that is willing to talk about this openly, regardless of how he is portrayed as a hero by Western media or within the country.
