This is exactly the situation, certainly for any (genuinely) indie title. We can't get funding to create VR content beyond what we raise ourselves, no-one outside our fan base is throwing cash at an unfinished VR title... and our fan base existing is 100% reliant on who influencers choose to shine a light on. The light is firmly on AAA and F2P.

@BeardoBenjoYT Ah ok, I see what your post was about now.. SIN being put on hold indefinitely. Its got to be tough being a game developer in this climate not knowing how much effort to put in with an unknown return.. Best they can do is probably kickstart it, see how much support they have

I appreciate this is just one example but it summarises how I’ve been feeling about VR as of late. As someone who wants the medium to lean into big, exciting, boundary pushing experiences I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that F2P & social is dominating the industry 🤷🏻

What does that means for someone like me who doesn’t want to spend their time in Horizon Worlds, Gorilla Tag clones or endless seas of low quality F2P social experiences with no real depth or substance? No idea. I’m still trying to figure that out.
