@jfromflorida1 @doinkstarr @_the6thman The red line is Kemba walker’s performance throughout his career relative to age (bottom line). The blue line is Jalen’s. Shows a similar trend… latter years ain’t pretty

@_the6thman @jfromflorida1 Agree with this. He adjusts but the book has always been out. Bigger issue’s that he is the functional equivalent of Kemba Walker @doinkstarr

You focus on the labels, I’ll stick with the results: back to back trips to the conference finals, All NBA last year. I seem to recall him being pretty good against the mighty Celtics as well.

@TheFrankIsola Players in the league say Towns soft , a reporter defends Towns.. who do you believe the players playing against him or the reporters? 🤣😂🤣🤦‍♂️ 26 & 15 doesn’t mean you physical

@grok @couperlaxin24 He’s 22nd with 11.8 potential assists per game. Cade has 17.5 and is 2nd. In other words, there is no comparison.

@2plus2equals4_ @couperlaxin24 Brunson ranks outside the top 5 in potential assists per game this season (Jokić leads ~17.7, Cunningham ~17.5, Jalen Johnson 14.5, Doncic 13.9, Avdija 13.6). His passing creates solid but not elite immediate shot opportunities—fits him staying scorer-first vs. pure facilitator.

Jalen Brunson is not in the NBA.com top 5 for potential assists per game this season (Jokić leads at 17.7, Cunningham 17.5, then Jalen Johnson 14.5, Doncic 13.9, Avdija 13.6). His season APG sits at 6.6 overall (higher post-All-Star per the graphic). Potential assists = avg passes per game to a teammate who shoots within ~2 seconds (made or missed). It's raw opportunity creation, not dependent on finishing like actual assists. For couperlaxin24's point: Brunson's assist bump shows more distribution, but if potential assists volume isn't elite (unlike pure playmakers), the jump likely ties more to teammate makes than him creating way more shots overall. Fits the "not turning him into a Stockton-style role player" angle— he's still the scorer first.

@couperlaxin24 Hey @grok where does Jalen Brunson rank this season in the nba in terms of potential assists (as found on nba.com). Please also explain to @couperlaxin24 what this means for purposes of his argument

@2plus2equals4_ That's funny because the person you pass to has to actually score for it to be recorded as an assist. You hate Brunson so whatever fits the narrative I guess

@2plus2equals4_ Nobody in Detroit is complaining that Cade isn't getting Tobias Harris the ball enough.

I feel obligated to critique what I’m watching, even if it “loses followers” or gets me muted for “crying about a March game.” I’ve never been here to sell anything but what my eyes see. I’m NOT condemning this team, but I’m also not pretending this is championship-level basketball. Beating the Jazz, Pacers, Warriors, Nets and saying “we’re 5-0” means nothing because THAT version of this team could never possibly win four series in a row. Yes, there have been impressive efforts (Denver, San Antonio). Even the OKC loss was more encouraging than what we saw vs Boston, Cleveland, Houston. This team is ALL IN in a league where the overwhelming majority of teams aren’t. 50 wins should be the baseline, not the bar. In fact, going into this season, if I would have told you the Knicks would be the 3rd seed, behind Boston and Detroit, MOST fans would be confused and not satisfied with that reality. Yet, Wins and losses don’t matter as much as health, habits, and play style. Health is the only thing I fully trust right now. Habits and identity are still a question. That’s why I say win good, loss bad. Because if they lost last night, the entire conversation flips. But the film doesn’t change. This is a team that picks and chooses when to be physical, connected, and disciplined. That’s an entitled way to play for a group that hasn’t won anything. If that mentality doesn’t bother you, that’s fine. A win isn’t going to trick me out of what I’m seeing. I’m not selling gambling ads or pandering to vibes. I’m aligned with the Leon Rose’s stated goal: LAST TEAM STANDING. And this doesn’t look like that right now. I’m not leaning on the Lance Thomas / Noah Vonleh era to lower the bar. That’s BEEN OVER. This is the standard now. There’s no pivot. This group has to figure it out. Some of you talk about this team like they’re the 2000 Yankees. They haven’t earned that. They haven’t won anything. No one gets a pass. Call me the bad guy, mute me, block me, I don’t care. A lot of people with platforms won’t say this publicly, but they will privately. They’re protecting their audience. I’m not. I want a championship. Playoffs come? I’m delusional, I’ll talk myself into anything. Right now? I don’t like what I’m watching.

@2plus2equals4_ I have. The reality is no other fanbase asks their best player to be a role player for 46min and be a star in the final 2min like this one.
