Thomas Frank has gone with three full-backs, two teenagers in the middle of the park and another six teens on the bench. Will be interesting to see if it's a back three for Spurs or Spence as one of the wingers. football.london/tottenham-hots…

@TheAthleticFC Look at the red given to Xavi v Liverpool. Either they're both red or both yellow. The inconsistency is ridiculous.

@CrazyCraven01 The question of who is a "big club" is about the most tiresome and useless dialog in sports. What does it even mean?

@AlasdairGold Exactly. The same thing has happened 30 times on corners this year, and zero penalties given.

"We need the consistency. Because that penalty, that would be given two times a game. And I think the referee call on the pitch nailed it. And VAR can only be if it's clear and obvious." football.london/tottenham-hots…

Thomas Frank on Newcastle's penalty: "Very disappointing to concede because for me it's never a penalty. Even speaking to some from Newcastle, who didn't think it's a penalty. (contd)

@premierleague @ChelseaFC Chelsea taking advantage of the referee's buying into their embellishing contact and getting soft fouls. The ref needs to be better.

Two goals in three minutes for @ChelseaFC 🔵 Josh Acheampong heads in his first senior goal before Pedro Neto lashes in from the edge of the penalty area 💥

It was an encouraging first 45 minutes from Nottingham Forest, but Ange Postecoglou's side are two goals down early into the second half. Josh Acheampong scored his first senior goal to give Chelsea the lead, before Pedro Neto doubled the visitors' advantage.

Half time | Newcastle United 1-0 Arsenal - Will be frustrating for Arsenal as it felt like they were managing the game well, and building some momentum before conceding. Need to find that again after half time

@TheAthleticFC Don't glorify this! He's disrespected his club, the contract he signed, his teammates and fans. He's behaved horribly, and yet got what he wanted. Pls write an article on how this is bad for the game!

"His intelligence shone through. He was — not sneaky, that sounds like a negative — but always looking for an opportunity” This is Alexander Isak — now the most expensive Premier League signing ever — a unique personality, intensely driven but also laid-back and introverted. As he signs for Liverpool, @jwhitey98 tells of his childhood, his rise, his talent, challenges, failures, triumphs... and the other time he refused to play. nytimes.com/athletic/65401…

@TheAthleticFC All this showed is that Isak is a horrible human being. No respect for his club, the contract he signed, his teammates, the fans. He behaved horribly yet got what he wanted, which is a problem for football. It shouldn't work that way.

Alexander Isak's show of contempt for Eddie Howe, his team-mates and supporters has ensured an ugly ending at Newcastle for a beautiful player. It did not have to be like that but then this applies to everybody. Treating all your investments with a “process-driven,” long-term view is all very well, but football requires a fleetness of foot and flexibility. Momentum is hard-won and easily forsaken. It may not be the reality, but when it comes to the big decisions — appointments, new stadium, training ground — it feels as though Newcastle have become a club of delay and long grass. Worse, it has the feeling of negligence. @GeorgeCaulkin on Isak's 'crazy' exit and where it leaves Newcastle's ambitions. 🔗 nytimes.com/athletic/65893…

@NBCSportsSoccer Absolutely ridiculous. If what Arsenal and Liverpool did is compliant with FFP and UEFA's squad cost rules, then the current regulations aren't fit for purpose.

@premierleague It's a bad day for football. Isak behaved horribly and yet got what he wanted. Liverpool needed to have some principles and say we don't want a player of such abhorant character at our club. I used to respect LFC. No more.

@gamdomsport It's absurd that the 3 most expensive players went to the same team. If this is allowed by FFP and UEFA's squad cost rules, then the current regulations aren't fit for purpose.

@premierleague If this works within FFP, and UEFA's squad cost rules, then the current regulations are inadequate. A league where only a few teams can compete for the title is not only unfair, it's boring.

🚨⚠️ BREAKING! Alexander Isak releases statement: “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue”. “I'm proud to be recognised by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25. First and foremost I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I'm not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there. I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself”.
