Today we are pleased to highlight the wonderful Michael Mallett We’re really proud to be supporting Michael, a member of @rystonrunners , as he takes on the @londonmarathon — his first ever marathon — in aid of the 8:56 Foundation. Michael chose to run for us because men’s mental health is something he understands on a personal level. Too many men stay silent, push things down, and struggle alone. We’re here to change that. By taking on 26.2 miles, Michael is helping us reach more men, start more conversations, and break down the stigma that still surrounds mental health. His effort means a lot, and every bit of support gives him a lift as he prepares for the big day. If you’re able to sponsor him or share his page, it would make a real difference — to Michael, and to the men we support. justgiving.com/page/michael-m… Thank you for getting behind him and backing the work we do. #Fundraising #BreakTheStigma #mensmentalhealthawareness #ItsTimeToTalk

Mental Health and Wellbeing Webinar We’re proud to be hosting our first Mental Health and Wellbeing Webinar on Tuesday 12th May, during Mental Health Awareness Week. This free session — fully funded by the Foundation — offers an accessible introduction to mental health awareness. It’s designed to give clubs, teams, coaches and volunteers the confidence to spot signs, start conversations, and support the people around them. We know how deeply mental health can affect individuals and whole communities. By taking part, you’ll be adding another layer of support within your club — because sometimes a simple chat can change someone’s day, and in some cases, it can save a life. The webinar will be delivered by a MHFA England–qualified trainer Connect Mind Care and will run for 60–75 minutes, including a Q&A. If you’d like to book a place, please email events@856.org.uk #mentalhealthawareness #ItsTimeToTalk #Wellbeing #Support

We are proud to shine a light on the incredible fundraisers and their challenges taking place over the next two weekends. From Manchester to Loch Ness to London, these amazing people are stepping up to support the Foundation and the men we help. First up: Michael Webster , who takes on the Manchester Marathon this weekend, fresh off completing the Wymondham 20‑miler recently. Michael shared a powerful message about why he runs: "I have been running and raising money for the 8:56 Foundation for the last couple of years. Having suffered with poor mental health for the majority of my life, it is a privilege to help a local charity that I know personally does such valuable work supporting men’s mental health.” If you’d like to support Michael, his JustGiving page is: justgiving.com/page/michael-w… #ItsTimeToTalk #Fundraising #Community #ThankYou

Remembering Lee Calton Today, 15th April, we remember Lee — 5 years since his passing. It’s hard to comprehend where that time has gone. 5 years have passed in a heartbeat, yet the feelings of sadness and love remain just as strong. Lee’s beautiful smile, his kindness, the way he lit up every room are missed every single day by his family, his friends, and everyone lucky enough to have known him. Wherever Lee went, he carried a warmth that made people feel seen and cared for. He always had time for others, no matter the moment. Those who knew him personally continue to celebrate his life exactly as he would have wanted. His memory remains a reminder to treat others gently, and to look after yourself too. You may not realise it, but someone is always there for you. 8:56 Foundation was created in his memory; we have worked and continue to work to support men with their mental health.  We hope we are doing him proud. His legacy lives on in every conversation started, it can make a difference, it makes that person know they are supported and cared for Lee, you will forever be in our hearts. 💛🖤 ItsTimeToTalk
