People say Shrek 5's redesigns are bad, but let's talk about actually bad redesigns imo. A majority of these are retcons to try to make the characters younger or realistic than they are in later films. Frogger's is just plain bad.

@screenmugnews I find it odd that kid Andy looks the most "realistic" out of all the redesigns Pixar has done, like they took away the exaggerated shape of his head from the first three films.

@85_Retro_Remus Andy's look in Toy Story 4 is a headscratcher. I guess he does look like Andy in-between 10 and 18, but that also begs the question, was he really wearing a red cowboy hat and playing with toys at 11? 12?

Shrek's redesign gets better as time progresses. You could still see the Mike Meyers resemblance at least.

As to those who claim that I am complaining about technological advancements, I meant to say the fifth movie's promo renders and posters looked offputting, but the actual animation itself, is pretty solid. Sorry for being vague.

Is it bad that I like the colors and vibe of the first Toy Story over the newest movies? I think there's something off about the fifth movie's visuals, like the colors seem more washed out than before.

@greenlegocats Imagine in some alternate universe where Rthro was always there from the beginning and Roblox has been pushing blocky avatars since 2018 but nobody cares.

Roblox's obsession with Rthro and avatar realism has been such a fascinating thing to watch. It predates going public. 8 years of trying to push realistic avatars and hardly anybody outside of employees and IMVU inspired online daters use them. It's so peculiar.

@KreekCraft The weirdest thing is that Roblox knows older players want high quality realistic visuals. Roblox wants to accommodate that... but they're doing so apparently only through forcing avatar realism and Rthro. Makes no sense.

@85_Retro_Remus Rewatching Toy Story 4 gave me the things with Dragon the cat (inside the antique store) who looks like a real photorealistic cat vs. Scudd, Sid's dog who may nowadays be compared to an animal from a PS1 game and only in an FMV cutscene! But Scudd was advanced for 1995!
