After the Texas primary resulted in a runoff between Paxton and Cornyn, Paxton offered to dropout if Cornyn and Thune could pass the SAVE Act. It never happened, because Cornyn is part of the swamp. Here's an open letter to Texas liberals, neocons and NeverTrumpers explaining why Paxton is going to be your next senator: I’ll never forget the moment I absolutely knew John Cornyn would be packing up his belongings in his Senate office the next time he'd be up for reelection. It was June 17, 2022, and Texas’ senior senator — emphasis on "senior" — desperately tried to speak at the state Republican Party Convention. The crowd booed him so hard he could barely finish a sentence. He took a figurative beating so badly that day I almost offered him an ice pack. The reason for the anger was that conservative grassroots felt humiliated after Cornyn helped Biden ram through a very unpopular gun-control bill. They called it the "The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act," but there was nothing bipartisan about it. The bill wasn't supported by true Republicans — the only party who wanted it was the uniparty. That was the day Cornyn found out the hard way that Texas grassroots conservatives don't want our lawmakers to negotiate away our God-given rights. The boos were loud, angry and nonstop, like the entire room had suddenly remembered every promise Cornyn had ever broken. It didn't go well.
