India in the last five days. 20 kids die in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan from tainted cough syrups that were cleared by the Government Health Regulator. The doctor who prescribed the medicine was arrested. The Drug Controller who cleared the poisons for public use and the Health Minister of the States remain unaccountable and free. A 9 year old child in Kerala died of a rare brain infection caused by a parasite which has nearly 97% death rate in the world. The father of the dead child split open the scalp and skull of the treating doctor blaming him for the child's death. The doctor's condition is critical. What the f*ck is wrong with the Indian public? Government killed 20 kids and people are ok with it? The Governance is not the problem in this country. The people are. Brainwashed illiterates and educated fools have made mediocrity their new standard and become flaccid spectators to colossal wastage of public funds and embracing lack of responsibility & accountability. The very high approachability (direct to sub-specialist by anyone, anywhere) of medical & health services in this country has made medical and health and its providers a cheap commodity. Sometimes I wish India was like USA or the UK where public are forced to understand the value of healthcare workers and healthcare services.

It is BGR-34 most probably. Blood-Glucose-Regulatory 34 is a fraudulent "anti-diabetes" product made by two Indian government-owned laboratories and launched commercially in 2016. This is a herbal supplement that is not only proof of taxpayer money wastage, but also a classical example of how the current Indian government cares very little for public health and promotes traditional untested quack formulations to endanger the public while refusing to accept the absence of evidence. The drug has been heavily criticized, and without more clinical trials, its efficacy remains unproven. It is also quite unsafe. The raw materials for BGR-34 are derived from six plants: Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), giloy (Tinospora cordifolia), vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium), gudmar (Gymnema sylvestre), manjeestha (Rubia cordifolia) and fenugreek (methi) of which, giloy is a well known liver toxic herb ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… and so is gymnema or gudmar pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20856101/ and Fenugreek has natural blood thinners that can prove dangerous in patients with diabetes. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… They were claimed to have been chosen from an "in-depth study of over 500 renowned ancient herbs" - which translates to "ancient bollocks." The publications from government scientists who studied BGR-34 have been in predatory journals and presented at predatory conferences - an utter wastage of public funds and tax money in the name of "traditional medicine." Many physicians noted concerns about the safety of the drug, multiple side-effects were reported and it was widely described as inefficient. @theliverdoc What about these category doctors( Ayurveda/siddha..etc etc ) who only couriers the medicine to ur house which has no name/label except when to have it .is it not dangerous .I truly don't believe these type Doctors .

@theliverdoc It's not nonsense it's the truth. He was asked to do liver transplant. Now he's fine after taking ayurvedic treatment. Pls go through the video ..it's not a lie..u can see his previous pictures and now...

Took some time off social media for a few days and posted very less than normal. And in that process, I... ...completed writing six clinical research protocols in three days ...submitted four research protocols for ethics committee clearance ...re-vamped an old clinical research group, discussed a variety of topics and prepared two new multicenter study protocols and shared with the group ...submitted two post-peer review paper revisions in two days ...read a whole lot of new studies (triggering new ideas for potential future research) out in The Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, Hepatology International, JAMA and Gastroenterology ...completed Excel data entry for one study and started analysis of two other studies including a fantastic gut microbiome study in cirrhosis So scary to realize how consistent social media engagements actually reduce realistic clinical work and research productivity. Wonderful getting back to academic work after a while!

@theliverdoc Beer whisky or wine etc are all bad for health . What about toddy drink or palm drink ( kal or kalu) . Does it come under the same category?
