Flag Friday: Mongolia (1992) Thoughts: Underrated gem. Standard tricolor but includes the Soyombo symbol, which is chock full of deep referential and personal symbolism to Mongol history and people. My favorite being the ying/yang referencing fish in mongol mythology. 8/10

Flag Friday Marshall Islands (1979) Thoughts: Not my favorite from this corner of the world, but some cool aspects. The band represents the equator, with the white and orange for sunrise and sunset. Designed by the First Lady of the republic. Better history than design. 5/10

Flag Friday Antigua and Barbuda (1967) Thoughts: Meaningful colors, black- African ancestry; blue-hope; red-life. V-shape is the symbol of victory with seven points representing the six parishes and island of Barbuda. Love the symmetry and symbolism of the sunrise 9/10.

Flag Friday: Ireland (1922) Thoughts: Gifted in 1848 to Thomas Francis Meagher from French sympathy to Irish nationalism, the flag was meant to show the union (white) between Catholics (green) and Protestants (orange). Lots of history on why Ireland is associated with green. 7/10

Flag Friday: Switzerland (1841) Thoughts: One of the most famous flags with a storied history. Despite their long-established neutrality, the Swiss flag began as a field sign for combatants in the 13th century. Its nverted colors used for the Red Cross. A favorite of mine 10/10

Flag Friday - Lesotho (2006) Thoughts - lnteresting history, the flag was adopted on the 40th anniversary of independence. The icon in the center is a hat called a mokorotlo. The design reflects a state at peace, replacing the old flag design that featured a military emblem. 6/10

Flag Friday: Egypt (1984) Thoughts: Pretty standard color symbolism. Red for blood, white for purity, and black for darkness overcome. Most interesting is the center, the Egyptian eagle of Saladin, whose history may be traced to ancient hieroglyphics. 5/10

“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.” -1 Cor. 15:19-20 The prophets were right. The grave is meaningless. What is death to a living God? Happy Easter!

Flag Friday: Andorra (1993) Thoughts: Pulls design elements from Catalonia, Foix and France. One of 28 flags with overtly Christian symbolism. And one of two national flags to feature cattle! I like all the imagery but it’s still a pretty basic seal on a background. 6/10

Flag Friday: Ecuador (1900) Thoughts: I like the condor, representing strength, and the pleasing color palette. The fatal flaw of the flag is that it’s a little too self-referential, the flag of Ecuador is literally on the flag of Ecuador. Look for it around the seal. 3/10

Flag Friday - Guyana (1966) Thoughts - Also known as “The Golden Arrowhead” the colors represent agriculture, endurance, and geography of the nation. Designed after the nation’s independence from Britain. 7/10

Flag Friday - Guernsey (1985) Thoughts- Simple look of the layered St George and Norman Cross. Very amusing history where it used to be just the St. George, they had to add the Norman Cross so soccer fans could distinguish the teams. 7/10
