Since I’m already posting about cool radiation meters, I thought I’d also share this Cold War era piece called a “Nu‑Klear Radiation Detector” from the 1960’s. It works without even needing batteries, just a clear plastic tube containing small red beads that you charge by shaking. The beads will cling to the tube via static electricity, but when soft X‑rays or low energy gamma radiation from fallout ionizes the air inside (“soft” meaning low energy radiation that can’t penetrate very far) the beads will lose their charge and fall. The faster they fall, the higher the exposure to radiation is, producing a unique and simple visual warning.☢️

@OpossumWarfare LMAO the muckery has already begun. Shots were fired early 😂 The main office sink was stuffed with plants & a squeaky was installed in my steel toe boots😂. I've blockaded their offices with a large Plexiglas panel.

This might be my best wildlife footage yet. Red-winged blackbird singing at sunrise. Hard to see in this frame, but wait until you watch it. That chilly Paynes Prairie morning caught the bird's breath condensing with every note. Absolute perfection.
