Taunton Town is sad to announce that, for personal reasons, vice captain Jacob Hodgson has decided to bring his time at the club to an end and will depart the Cygnet Health Care Stadium. Jacob has a young family and increasing work commitments, which have made it difficult for him to fully commit to the long-term project at Taunton Town. He has therefore made the tough decision to continue playing more locally in Bristol to better suit his circumstances. The announcement was made by Manager Richard Luffman during the Q&A session at this morning’s opening training session. Speaking to the club, Luffman said: “Skip is without a doubt the best bloke I’ve met in football. He has been an unbelievable servant of mine across the past six years and the past 18 months here at Taunton. You will struggle to meet a better person and he is a credit to both his family and the football club. On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to wish him all the best in the remainder of his career and beyond.” Hodgson joined Taunton Town in 2024 and quickly became a real fans’ favourite among the Peacock Army, known for his commitment, leadership, and tireless performances in claret and blue. He popped up with 7 goals, with his last coming away at Tiverton Town in the Emirates FA Cup. Please join us in wishing him all the very best for the future. #UpThePeacocks 🦚
