Japan are so admirable because they lack certain physical qualities to play a dominant off-ball style to constantly regain possession but the few times they do have the ball, their techniques & brains are so high level that they can slice thru you to clinically create big chances.

We have had enough bullshit

Look at this screenshot from a dashcam. I'm sure you have seen the video. That grey Honda. That motorcycle ahead. A few seconds after this was taken, that man lost his life. He had left home that Sunday morning to get something for his kids. That was his whole plan for the day. But he never made it home. The driver of that grey car was drunk and high on drugs at the same time. Before noon on a Sunday. I keep staring at this screenshot because in this frame, everything still looks completely normal. Just another morning on a Malaysian road. And then it wasn't. I've been fortunate to travel to many countries over the years. And one thing I consistently notice, whether it's a developed nation or somewhere like Morocco, you feel enforcement on the roads. Not just during holidays. Regularly. It becomes part of how you drive. Here in Malaysia, the laws are actually quite strict on paper (should be even more strict). Drunk driving carries a minimum RM8,000 fine and 3 years jail. If someone dies, the driver faces up to 15 years in prison. I'm not saying enforcement isn't happening. I think it is. But not in the way people feel it in their everyday lives. And that's the issue... His kids are still waiting for him to come home. To everyone in a position to change this, please make enforcement something people feel every single day. Salam Takziah to the family.

Did you know that fan votes only count for 10% of the Premier League Player of the Month award? Let me tell you some interrelated facts that cover who decides the other 90% and who has won it more than anyone else in history. Number 3 will shock you. 1: Three players share the all-time record Sergio Agüero, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah with 7 awards each, are the joint record holders with seven wins each. Steven Gerrard and Cristiano Ronaldo are next on six wins apiece, with Gerrard's midfield dominance across nearly two decades at Liverpool and Ronaldo's explosive early years at Manchester United both reflected in those numbers in a way that feels completely accurate to anyone who watched them at their peaks. 2: Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Bruno Fernandes have each won the award five times, representing three very different kinds of excellence viz Rooney's raw power, Van Persie's technical elegance, and Fernandes's creative productivity from midfield. 3: Despite winning the PFA Player of the season award twice, Man City legend Kevin De Bruyne never won the Premier League Player of the month award. I know it's a bummer. But it's true. 4: Fan votes count for just 10% of the entire thing Every month millions of fans vote online for their player of the month and their collective voice counts for exactly 10% of the final decision, which means your clicks genuinely matter, just not as much as you probably assumed when you were casting them. 5: A panel of football legends, pundits and journalists combines with all 20 Premier League club captains to determine the remaining 90% of the result every single month, and the exact split between the expert panel and the captains has never been publicly revealed, which means that when your favourite player wins, it is largely because his peers and the people who watch football for a living decided he deserved it. What does this tell you? Simply that your vote matters. It just matters a lot less than you thought. My name is Ajoje. I am a FIFA Licensed Agent and International Sports Lawyer. I write on the Law and Business of Football, a lot. Repost and Follow if you want to read more posts like this.
