Diary of a recovering alcoholic
Today is my Day Zero. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Living life feels like swimming with weights round my ankles and now is the time to stop. Reaching out to the #recoveryposse , would really be grateful 🙏 for some recommended people to follow. Many thanks 😊

@DylanOgline No problem with the intentions here, but it will always be the small bizs who go the wall first if they cannot meet that cost. Same with any new costly regulation. I would suggest gvt subsidises small bizs to pay a living wage. Otherwise gvt are subsidising all to pay a low wage.

Just saw somebody try to argue that minimum wage isn't supposed to be a living wage. That their small business can't afford to pay a living wage. If the only way your business can exist is the exploitation of labor (aka peoples actual lives), then your business should not exist.

@LunaEmpath89 If you're fortunate enough to be in a position to buy, don't let anyone rush you, and many people will try. You'll probably never be a first time buyer again and you really do have a strategic advantage. Use it to make the decision on a property that is right for you.

@thewhgirl Me! Best decision I've made outside of wife, kids etc. The benefits are enormous. The disadvantages, you'll realise there aren't any. If I could change one other simple thing which would reap even 10% of the amount of benefits, I would do it tomorrow. Good luck 🙏 Join us!

Happy New Year my friends! If like me you live with a dangerous addiction, life can often feel perilous, precarious, and gruelling. No matter where you're at dealing with your illness, it takes guts living with it and I'm proud to share your company. Wishing you a peaceful 2023 x

@Feralberyl_ Meditate. Helped me loads. Uncomfortable at first and one may need to cultivate an awareness of that which makes you feel uncomfortable. It would've eaten me up anyway if I hadn't confronted it. Now I can sit with an open and less judgemental mind and it brings great peace.

Any advice on how to sit with your emotions/feelings. I’m one year sober today and last time I got to around 18 months and relapsed because I let all my suppressed feelings come up and didn’t know how to deal with them. I do not want to make the same mistake again #RecoveryPosse

I’m just a social media small fry, but I take pride in once having a tweet that got 34k likes. What was the most likes you ever got from a tweet?

@RachelMolloy13 Don't have a problem with NA wine etc. I know some find them triggering which I get. Sometimes I'll have a NA beer if out for a curry. Often it tastes shit, just like the real thing! If receiving as a gift I would feel I was still being judged by my illness, but wouldn't ever say

@barrysherwin61 @BraddrofliT I want to like Zeppelin so much more than I do. I'm also a huge fan of the drumming of Jimmy Chamberlain in the Smashing Pumpkins, but I generally don't like the music as much... it's weird. Re The Eagles, I just find their music more accessible and melodically satisfying.

@AlchoDiary @BraddrofliT Good call and interesting thought process. On reflection, I realise I'm pretty much of the same opinion (although I'm not a drummer!).

@happyhoochie My wife. She's not ideological about drinking - she can take it or leave it and 99 times out of 100 she will leave it. When she drinks she's not compelled to have more than a glass of wine & I've never seen her drunk. She's been my saviour & she made stopping drinking feel normal

Moderate drinkers are like unicorns: magical, mysterious and never seen in public. Do you know a booze unicorn? 🦄 #RecoveryPosse
