In 2000, while transitioning from Nairobi back to Kampala, he created a comeback hit “Ffe Mu East Africa Hakuna Matata” and pitched it to McCann Erickson…Coca-Cola’s marketing agency…directly to then Managing Director Michael O’Hara. He linked the song’s message to Coca-Cola’s “Enjoy” campaign. The idea worked. He was booked to perform at the launch of the Namanve Coca-Cola bottling plant on April 3, 2001….an event attended by the President of Uganda and Coca-Cola’s then Vice President Carl Ware. For the performance, Kawesa assembled the dance group Obsessions, worked with designer @SantaAnzo1 , and featured Barbara Kayaga. The show was electric.
