A9 #pcschat All students are able to be successful with the rubric that I use. Most of the points lost are because they do not cite sources correctly. Assessing it holds them accountable and students that have worked hard want a grade.

A8 #pcschat I would love to hear thoughts on this. My students have not presented publicly, but I would love to make this happen.

A7 #pcschat I have students self assess on the rubric that I am going to use before they present. Afterwards they answer questions about what they learned, what they would change, and what their next project will be.

A6 #pcschat I use Genius Hour as a learning tool for research. Once students have topics we do a mini lesson on a research topic each Friday. The presenting piece also fits well with speaking and listening standards.

A5 #pcschat Truthfully, the only failure is if a project isn't completed. I've never had that happen. I haven't ever used the word failure when discussing this project with the students.

A4 #pcschat I don't. LOL I'm a "think outside the box" teacher. I have always put my ideas in action...this one has had only positive outcomes, therefore, I continue to use it.

A3 #pcschat Most students are pretty shocked and then excited that they get to choose what to learn about. There is a positive energy as they await Friday, genius hour day, and as they leave the room talking about what they have learned.

A2 #pcschat I give students a planning sheet to write questions on, list people that can help them, and keep track of helpful websites. We also create a folder in their drive and keep notes on a document.

A1 #pcschat I have Ss watch a video of other kids talking about what they wonder about, question, and would like to explore. They each post their ideas on sticky notes and put them on our "Wonder" board. The thought of choosing a topic is always exciting.

A4. I’m a firm believer if someone is on your mind you should reach out. It can be a simple email, text , or make them dinner... etc. #PCSchat

@krysquires Well, since I know those tables...they work with four or six in your room. I changed them up depending on how many groups I needed. ( Sometimes it was 8, so groups of four and the small group table with me. )

@MsBafunno The magic words there were “I really like...”You may have students that really like their own space too but others that don’t. How about a Google Form to find out their preferences?

A3: I guess I would change the desks to allow for more collaboration in assignments. Although I really like each student having their own individual space... I'm torn! #PCSchat #PCSed

There are a couple things you could do. 1. Have a VIP student who has earned the opportunity 2. Put a student in charge of keeping track, maybe on an attendance clipboard with a simple check mark.
