Hey Bobcat Family, I’ve never been one for long public posts about personal stuff, so this feels a little weird, but I want to share something with y’all before I start going quieter. A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Only a handful of my friends in the Bobcat community have known about this—I’ve kept it pretty private while trying to stay as active as I could here and around campus. This past year, though, has been the toughest yet, and my health is asking for more of my energy than I have left to give elsewhere. Last spring, I stepped away from my full-time grad school classes to move in with my brother and his wife so my family could keep a closer eye on me. Since then, my health has continued to decline, and the reality is that the road ahead is shorter and steeper than any of us hoped. So if you notice I’m not posting, not commenting, not showing up in the timeline like I used to, please don’t think it’s because I love Texas State any less. The opposite is true. This place, these people, the games, the memes, the random 2 a.m. conversations—y’all have been one of the brightest parts of some really dark days. I've just reached a point where I need to turn the volume down on everything so I can pour what strength I have into my family and into taking care of myself. I’ll still be cheering (just a little more quietly, privately). Thank you for every like, every memory, every “how you doin’ today?” in my DMs. Y’all have meant more than you know. Eat 'Em Up! Josh
