Our paper science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… is new in @ScienceMagazine today. We looked at the impact wide scale forestation (reforestation, afforestation and forest enhancement) would have on atmospheric composition and albedo, comparing these changes to the beneficial removal of CO2. 1/

Our new paper on UK air quality finds NO2 and PM2.5 showed robust decreases over 2015-2024 while ozone has increased. All pollutants breach the WHO targets too frequently however. NO2 mainly from traffic, PM2.5 predominantly from sources further afield pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

The radiative impact of the lower N2O mixing ratios and removal of CO2 via the enhanced rock weathering of the basalt used to treat the agricultural soil (one of two methods considered) equates to a beneficial 9–11 ppm CO2 removal by 2075. 3/n

@sheffield_dust @Dust_Barcelona HYSPLIT back trajectory suggests wind from Sahara travelling north.

Looks like a far-travelled air mass hits Sheffield and the UK today. Within this should be some North African #dust according to @Dust_Barcelona. Pm2.5 values already quite high in Sheffield (40 ug/m3 outside, and 12 ug/m3 inside)

Our paper on combining observations of marine isoprene with modelling in @UkesmProject has been published in @NatureComms. Our study suggests that prior emission estimates of marine isoprene need to be scaled by at least 20x so that models can match observed concentrations. 1/n
