@DisabledDoctor Thanks for sharing. Part of the issue is millions pwLC becoming disabled & having no sense of how the medical system & care systems of the US work. Many arent in relationship w/ pwHIV, the larger disabled community or even people of other stigmatized diseases like pwMECFS. My 1/2

Long covid and CC community: HIV stigma isn’t that bad and we think it’s fine to co-opt the language. We aren’t harming anyone. The HIV care, advocacy, and research world: - HIV stigma is SO bad that in many states medical providers aren’t allowed to share a patient’s HIV status with another medical provider or other individual without explicit signed consent from the patient saying they can share THAT diagnosis. Not just a release of information, but one that says “you can share my HIV status.” - clinics focused on HIV heavily prioritize privacy with treatment and testing access because they know people are won’t show up if they don’t - people are murdered for revealing their HIV status. Yes, this still happens - many people avoid getting tested because they fear the result - even after people test positive, many avoid picking up their meds or keeping them on them/at home for fear of being discovered, meaning they go without treatment People DIE as a result of this stigma. Please stop co-opting it because you’re on a misguided quest to leverage the stigma of one disease to try to get people to take COVID seriously. You’re doing more harm than good and ignoring decades of suffering in the process. And no, privileged HIV+ white men don’t represent the entire HIV+ community, especially if they are gay as it is the MOST accepted in that space. 😉 The most impacted group is seemingly Black women, and, per usual, white people don’t seem to give a shit about shoving them down

Has anyone managed to get their loved ones to wear a mask 24/7 while admitted to avoid hospital acquired Covid infections? A hospital CC care pack could include: duckbill N95s, KN95s & Readimasks for MRIs & instructions on masks types & to wear a mask during the whole stay Or

I sat w/ the discomfort for awhile (~1yr) before I experimented w/ retwisting less. Im still stuck on length though but I realize where the discomfort w/short comes from now.

@burkinababee Right and she made a video about locs and it made me think about my hair and how im comfortable not always getting a retwist every month and other black people speak on me and how they are unkept. It grinds my gears. Thank goodness i love my crown.

When the field had better biomarkers & ability to hone in on a homogenous population w/ Alzheimers dementia & not a vascular or Parkinsons dementia

Which is why we rigorously excluded MECFS, vector borne, post vax from our Long COVID trial. Not just subjectively but also using biomarkers. Enroll the wrong cohort of patients, fail your trial. Concepts we learned in middle school science.

Im tired of "4C hair is a full time job" discourse. When I was a kid mothers washed our loose hair on Saturday & braided it on Sunday & that style lasted 1-2 weeks. A few hours on the weekend is not full time & neither is afro or loc maintenance. Just say you hate your hair & 1/2
