@jedigoodman Dana & Eddie fighting in mma would be the biggest fight in mma
English

Dana White responds to Eddie Hearn's recent comments:
Eddie said that me and him are the biggest fight in boxing. Therein lies the problem with boxing...You're a fucking bum. I'm old and we don't even deserve to be on a card with a bunch of real fighters.
Later, when responding to online critics of the Conor Benn deal:
Dana White: Then, all these guys on the internet that are so smart and such fucking experts in the fight business...Just because you have $35 and can start a fucking website and do a podcast means you're some type of expert? You guys should be fucking running Bellator and PFL and ONE FC. Go help these guys out. Help these guys...You guys are brilliant, geniuses. You know everything about the fight business. Why aren't you running one of these failing organizations?

Jamaica could move to drill for oil off the coast of St Thomas within the next two years following encouraging early findings from a recent geo -chemical survey.

@KyleAnthonie Very disappointing stuff. Never knew Jamaica have so much eeediot

How many other counties found oil and are thriving today?? If the answer is more than 0 that means oil is not the issue but rather management.
This is like a man saying he does not want to win the lotto because he heard of someone who won it and is now broke.
Damien King@DamienWKing
Join me in hoping that oil is never discovered in Jamaica. Countries are more likely to become wealthy if they're forced to produce it, like Singapore and South Korea, rather than sucking or digging it out the ground, like Venezuela and Angola.
English

@DamienWKing Why not like Saudi Arabia or Qatar or UAE or Norway?

@aakashgupta Any group of people still existing on earth today are not inferior to any other group

The tribe on the right isn't behind. They made a choice.
Survival International tracked 196 uncontacted groups still on Earth, roughly 10,000 people total, across 10 countries. Their 2025 definition is specific: these are groups that reject contact with outsiders as an active, ongoing decision. They see planes. They see helicopters. They shoot arrows at them.
The Sentinelese on North Sentinel Island have been making this choice for an estimated several thousand years. In 2018 they killed an American missionary who landed on their beach. In March 2025 another American showed up with a can of Diet Coke and a coconut as a peace offering.
The left photo shows someone traveling at 28,000 km/h, 400 km above Earth, inside a $150 billion machine. The right photo shows someone who could walk to a road in three days and chose not to.
Every contacted tribe follows the same curve. The Matis in Brazil lost more than half their population within one year of first contact. Mostly influenza. A disease that a CVS pharmacist can treat in 15 minutes wiped out a civilization that survived thousands of years of jaguars, floods, and rival tribes.
The tribe looked at what contact offers and decided the trade wasn't worth it. Given the historical data, they might be running the better expected value calculation.

There's a physicist at Stanford named Safi Bahcall who modeled this exact principle and the math is wild.
He calls it "phase transitions in human networks." When you're stationary, your probability of a lucky event is limited to your existing surface area: the people you already know, the places you already go, the ideas you've already been exposed to. Your opportunity window is fixed.
When you move, your collision rate with new nodes in a network increases nonlinearly. Double your movement (new conversations, new cities, new projects) and your probability of a serendipitous encounter doesn't double. It roughly quadruples. Because each new node connects you to their entire network, not just to them.
Richard Wiseman ran a 10-year study at the University of Hertfordshire tracking self-described "lucky" and "unlucky" people. The single biggest differentiator wasn't IQ, education, or family money. Lucky people scored significantly higher on one trait: openness to experience. They talked to strangers more, varied their routines more, and said yes to invitations at nearly twice the rate.
The "unlucky" group followed the same routes, ate at the same restaurants, and talked to the same 5 people. Their networks were closed loops. No new inputs, no new collisions.
Luck isn't random. Luck is surface area. And surface area is a function of movement.
The lobster emoji is doing more work than most people realize. Lobsters grow by shedding their shell when it gets too tight. The growth requires a period of total vulnerability. No protection, no armor, soft body exposed to the ocean.
That's the cost of movement nobody posts about. You have to be uncomfortable first. The new shell only hardens after you've already moved.
