@DEADLINE How about states come together and adopt our Universal Film Tax Credit Bill to support infrastructure and production so that we can build new studios, businesses, and establish Hollywood 2.0 to compete and grow the US Entertainment industry instead of depending on The Big Five?

@Kneon There was a YouTube video the other day from a photographer talking about “Good Contrast vs. Bad Contrast”. The “Good” to him was the milky low contrast we’re all suffering with because of modern HDR lunacy and the “Bad” was the naturally dark contrast that pops off the screen.
English

@cassianelwes We hope to improve things with our Babs Do Studios development to establish Hollywood 2.0 for all! We are looking at new solutions that have presented themselves, so stay tuned!

@naivenostalgia @JamesTheodre @mwheeler37 @Variety Oh no, we've heard some stories and conversations on that topic! However, in a multi-million dollar production with several levels of quality checks and a major IP involved, that shouldn't have even been submitted on a first draft. The change to "Rowan" apparently shows this.

@BabsDoProd @JamesTheodre @mwheeler37 @Variety I beg you to go look up what people have been naming their kids for the past ~15 years & then tell me if you still think Nova is too "out there"

EXCLUSIVE: The shooting draft for the scrapped “Buffy” reboot at Hulu reveals the plot:
Over the course of the script, Nova (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), described as a “brainy introvert,” discovers that she’s the Slayer — and people in Sunnydale do know the mythology of what Slayers are because of what happened to the town back in Buffy’s day. Set during a “Vampire Weekend,” a Renaissance Faire-like celebration of the town’s dubious history, Nova takes down two actual vampires after coming into her powers. By the episode’s end, the formerly friendless Nova has a new Scooby Gang flanking her. The action then cuts to New York City for a brief scene with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy, who is working in a corporate office building under the name "Anne."
The script drops hints about what’s to come: Her dad, a photojournalist, is overly protective, and has moved them around a lot after Nova was kidnapped as a young child. And all the vampires that Buffy buried in the show’s 2003 series finale, when the Hellmouth collapsed in on itself, taking Sunnydale down with it, have been awakened. Nova would have her work cut out for her.

@JtGWrites @phi_rez @Variety Lots of options but it depends on the story. There could be a reason to name her a plain name like "Anne" or "Beth" or something tricky like "Roxie". But, at this point, if it's just throwing out names online we might as well do the name guessing scene from "Ted" and laugh.
English

@JamesTheodre @mwheeler37 @Variety There's "on the nose" and "who would name their kid that?" By genre, it's more of a sci-fi kind of name, like "Nova" of the "Nova Corps" in Marvel. In writing, names and genre go together, that's why romantic dramas don't have characters named like Christmas elves or aliens.
English

@BabsDoProd @Variety Her name was changed to Rowan. Not sure if that was better.
English

@mwheeler37 @Variety Even in that lineup “Nova” doesn’t fit, it’s too strange and “out there” of a name. It feels like it’s trying to outdo “Buffy” but there’s nothing behind it other than being an odd name. Also, the names of the other characters reflect their characters and roles as well.
English

@BabsDoProd @Variety Nova, Buffy, Faith, Kennedy, Fray, etc. there's already a lot of goofy Slayer names in canon

This has been a problem for a long time, the “Assistant Trap”. We did an alumni meetup when we first got into film school. Many of them told us that they had been assistants for years and that it’s hard to break out of it. Some people do well as assistants and like you said, your friend was doing regular work in CG lighting. The trick of doing your own movies and moving up is a problem in Hollywood, clearly, and that’s because there’s not enough studio production work to go around to help give you and others a chance. This is one of the reasons we want to build Babs Do Studios and our new Hollywood 2.0 system, everybody should have the resources and opportunity to make their dream projects. Many may find that their talents aren’t in the director’s chair or holding the screenwriter’s pen and perhaps another position would suit them better but that flexibility to aim for work or passion should be there because it is otherwise a do-or-nothing struggle for steady industry work or being an independent artist. Even for this field of work, it shouldn’t be so dramatic.

@caproductionco @CAgovernor @GavinNewsom We researched and planned a way to help California’s production slump but then we learned the new Film Tax Credit program has a “window” system in place that closed on March 4th. It killed the whole idea. Can we all quickly lobby for an amendment for rolling submissions?

.@CAgovernor @GavinNewsom announced 16 new projects receiving this year's first round of Film & TV Tax Credit Program awards.
They represent $871 million in qualified in-state spending—inclusive of $489 million in qualified wages—and thousands of CA jobs!
