@MrLuckhurstY5 @TTSSchoolDirect @WhiteRoseMaths I think A is interesting because until you convert to improper fractions I don’t think it’s obvious that one mixed number is double of the other! C definitely requires a number line to explain the constant difference ☺️

@Beth_89 @MathsteryByMrJ The issue with that then is the quotient doesnt take a place value "How many 300s can be made from 600?" The answer is 2, but the 2 in the short division algorithm has a value of 200, whereas the dividend should keep a value of 3. If you were to say "How many 3s make 600" it...

Another great @WhiteRoseMaths webinar on Year 3 ‘addition and subtraction’. A big fan of the ‘always, sometimes and never’ and ‘what’s the same/different?’ questions which allow children to think deeper and investigate numbers by finding various solutions #primarymaths

@MrMattock @MathsteryByMrJ Really interesting! Massive shift in language but makes complete sense. I discuss the fact we are always making groups of 3 but depending on the column depends on the value. Did this due to link to ‘How many 3s in.....’ which is common language used.
