First, the problem with football discussions on Twitter is that they've become more about banter than actual football. Fans don't want to openly criticise or discuss their favourite players when they're underperforming, and they don't want anyone else doing it either. They see any criticism as giving rival fans ammunition to mock their players. Secondly, many people only watch their own teams and rarely pay attention to other clubs or emerging talents. They have no idea what's happening outside their league or fan bubble. So when I see comments like "one good match," I have to laugh. It's perfectly fine if you didn't know who Ayyoub Bouaddi was before the game against Brazil, but don't come out and make statements like that. Bouaddi is one of the best young players in his position in Europe, and he's only 18. I've said several times that this World Cup would introduce a lot of these talents to a wider audience because many people spend more time on Twitter than actually watching football. Tournaments like this give fans the chance to discover players they've never paid attention to before. Ayyoub Bouaddi is a top-tier talent, already operating at Champions League level. Clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG are already interested with a €60m bid already rejected by his club Lille, and after this World Cup I wouldn't be surprised if teams such as Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich join the race. If Barcelona are serious, they should be looking at him too. In my opinion, he's already among the top 5–10 defensive midfielders in the world. Everything doesn't have to revolve around blindly defending your club's player.
