There's a not so fine like between "respect your elders" and "treat people how you want to be treated" and I don't think that's talked about enough. Old people do not have impunity because they're old. Young people aren't right because they're young. Nothing is automatic.

@nonregemesse Also note that the only real weak point on a grown dragon is the eye, or another dragon. Meraxes is killed by scorpions, yes, but they shot her in the eye. The other bolts rattled off or failed to penetrate her hide.
