@FoursideKM Yeah I remember watching that video, I just genuinely forgot that andrew's video was talking about a different third entity theory.

@FoursideKM @TemporarioZol Oh I forgot that's what third entity theory referred to then. Did the theory change since then or did Jaru just pick the name and redefine it? Because that's not what he's talking about lol.

@TemporarioZol No third entity theory is basically that there's someone controlling kris when they remove the soul lol. It used to be really popular

@FoursideKM For the record, I disagree on both counts, that's just what I got from him explaining his opinion.

@FoursideKM He thinks the player in deltarune works the same way as in undertale, not directly controlling the soul but controlling some intermediary that controls the soul so all of the stuff relating to the player can be relegated to the metanarrative. At least that's how I understand it.

@YouNotGonnaWin Wait who does he think is the third entity lol. He thinks kris and dess are two of them. Who's the third?

@YouNotGonnaWin Honestly, he makes some interesting points, even if the conclusion is probably wrong. The possession timeline pre ch1 is still uncertain, and he suggests a story theme of constrained freedom that sounds quite compelling imo.

@TemporarioZol @YouNotGonnaWin The third entity refers to some entity that is neither Kris nor the Player, a kind of proxy between Kris and the Player.

@NewLnr2 I still disagree with his ultimate conclusion and some points he makes, but it is genuinely interesting.

@NewLnr2 He does actually make some interesting points in this one. It's mostly about the possession timeline and a certain potential theme not cleanly adding up with playersoul (in his opinion). It's not really a theory, just a collection of observations and interpretations.

Hating him for what he did is one thing, but flat out denying that he, as a **FICTIONAL** AI, is a person because of OpenAI and so on being evil is just actual media illiteracy.

@clowndals @images_i_hate2 I don't know if you didn't watch the show or really can't think beyond "ai means bad". Caine is not chatgpt. He is a fictional AI, who in his narrative is a sentient being with real emotions. The characters quite literally exploit his rage and fear of abandonment to distract him.

@images_i_hate2 Everyone is falling for Caine the way some people did for Chatgpt. He becomes whatever he thinks you want him to be so that he is loved but at the end of the day he's just an AI who is trying to replace your creativity with its own version void of human empathy. I dont feel bad.

@Farandulegro @images_i_hate2 He absolutely knows that he is causing them torment. He literally says "i'm going to put you freaks in your place". You can analyze a morally complex character without infantilizing them. This meltdown only happened *because* Caine is a sentient person.

@images_i_hate2 He does not understand what is so wrong with doing that, he is not conscious enough to phatom the idea he might not be pleasing them; he thinks by giving them a lot of stress he is helping them cope (by distraction) to the reality there is no way out.

@getsnuckup0n @MaxOKE_ Perhaps that's the easiest answer. It still doesn't feel quite right though, the attention to detail with the console just doesn't let me dismiss it that easily. *Something* was messing with Kinger, it definitely wasn't just "oops i fatfingered it".

@BlueFlintTree @MaxOKE_ IMO what happened here is he was trying to roll back Caine to an earlier state but accidentally purged him entirely instead. You can see he tried to abort the deletion but failed to do so. You're right about the delete key detail, but I think that tradeoff was made for viewers.

@LizardHist @MaxOKE_ If it was random computer related words, i'd be inclined to agree, but the text on the console was definitely chosen very deliberately. A bit earlier it actually shows Kinger trying to start a gdb debug session, and with that kind of attention to detail, I just can't dismiss it.

@BlueFlintTree @MaxOKE_ I kinda trust what he said directly/how he reacted more than mostly covered text. This could be waved off as being remnants of an older script

@snickerolli I think the getting sucked in part is entirely unrelated to Caine. Kinger mentioned that Scratch had a brain tumor and wanted to do something about it, so people entering a digital world is probably the result of that.

kris / snicker || TADC EP 8 SPOILERS FUUUUUUUUCK
okay so caine absorbed that other ai and created the circus and unintentionally trapped the other humans in there cause he clearly didnt know that could happen (cough cough ragatha getting trapped) so then where the fuck did the code go wrong that they get sucked in by headsets

@jaquiethecat @LinaTheWeirdooo No, that's not the role they have, but the user that owns the files. It's a unix file structure, so "root" is the owning user and "wheel" is the owning group.

@MaxOKE_ Also despite the great attention to detail in the console, the keypresses are a bit weird to me. In the shot right after you see what Kinger was presumably typing (the ABORT line) and when typing in a console, the delete key just removes the next character.

@MaxOKE_ Yeah you're right I missed that. But if you look at the console right after this shot you can see that it tried to delete caine twice already and Kinger tried to decline.
