Im not sure he will

@BlueJay677 @tddt_5115 Expecting someone like Raddysh is why we moved Woll, to give us a cap buffer to do things like that. Same with trying to acquire a 2C or 3C (depending on Chayka's outlook on Tavares). If Tanev is back and worse for wear, plenty of AHLers bursting to play for the Leafs.

@TalkeyHockey Ersson wont play a single game for the leafs.. hes an RFA that wont be resighned, he was a throw in to get the deal done

Getting Ersson back is interesting because it makes me wonder if Hildeby or Stolarz are also on the way out.

The same could be said about any head coach really.. the team could fail under woodcroft and once again youre firing a coach.. with pavelski youre likely looking at a much cheaper option if you were to have to fire him and continue to pay that contract.. either way id say youve got valid points, i just feel like that 100% fresh perspective could be the key that unlocks this roster..

yea i 100% agree about teams poaching him, it’s a risk either way imo, if you bring him in as a head coach and he’s brutal then you gotta fire another coach, but if you bring him in as a assistant teams can hire him as a head, i like the vision of a new coach with a new system and hockey brain

I would argue that the Third round pick is the MAIN piece here.. love the Andrae aquisition.. but i have a strange feeling that the leafs have plans of making a draft day trade using picks for a player or using players+picks to gain another top 5 pick… if the leafs come out of the draft with Mckenna/Stenberg+Verhoeff/Reid they are setting themselves up for an incredible future..

People are focusing on the wrong piece coming back from PHI Andrae is the main piece in this deal, Leafs needed to get younger on the back-end and move the puck north, he accomplishes both of those Ersson may not be qualified and/or even be with the Leafs next season

I guess Toronto just really believes in Hilldeby? Because Woll to Ersson is quite a talent gap. Andrae maybe there's something there. For Philly they form a damn good tandem that's cheap for next season ($7M) and now they have more leverage with Vladar in contract talks.

@mandelorean @TalkeyHockey I wouldnt think like that… its that sort of process that leaves you stranded and struggling when things dont go to plan.. you need to have a plan B long before and hope for the absolute best! To me that would mean aquiring a #1 RHD now

Sure hope not.. that sounds like 2 complete disasters and a potential future disaster… Nobody should want Carlson on this leafs team as he just doesnt fit the timeline.. and the same goes for Hamilton.. not to mention the constant injury concerns…. As for Raddysh hes a great fit but ypu would have to overpay.. unless hes willing to sighn for Rielly money ( under $8M) than its a future disaster waiting to happen… leafs fans need to stop focusing on just next season, the focus needs to shift to the future of this franchise, the next 5-10 years..

The issue with that idea is that just like Spencer Carbery, Pavelski will be poached the second other teams see the vision.. dont be the leagues coaching farm.. be brave and take the chance like Montreal did with St Louis.. as for woodcroft i think hes a great coach but i really dont believe hes what this team needs right now.. and Lalonde needs to go.. its a bad fit. I dont believe in him at all.. not here or anywhere, with all do respect.

i would be in for woodcroft as the head coach, pavelski as the powerplay guy, lalonde as the Pk coach with bringing up Giordano to coach the defence. Van ryn should be fired too, let pavelski get some experience behind the behind professionally and who knows, he could become a head soon

@matthews2hell Love Stolarz but Hes next on the trade block, its just a matter of who wants to take on that contract for less than 30 games played a season.

Nothing personal in terms of woodcroft, hes a great coach, i just dont believe hes what the leafs need at this moment, he is VERY similar to sheldon Keefe, i think the players and the organization as a whole need a completely fresh perspective and aproach, and a former player thats actually played in both the old NHL landscape and the new era NHL would be an incredible asset with great understanding and would be incredibly relatable to players.

@tddt_5115 Its VERY likely that Tanev comes back farrrr worse than he left, and thats if hes even able to play 30+ games… the leafs are going to need to explore options on both the right and left side.. and the only way to get Raddysh is overpay him, i personally would not do that.
