@DanielMillerEsq Radical hope is called for in these dark times. We acknowledge our anger, sadness, and fear, but refuse despair, channeling our pain into resistance and working for a better future--even in the face of extreme uncertainty--for ourselves and for the sake of our children.

Half of America came from Europe. Their grandparents fled exactly what MAGA is importing. Your great-grandparents got on a boat to escape something. You just voted to bring it back. Your people came here for a reason. They did not cross an ocean because things were good back home. They came because something over there was broken, and they had heard that America was different. That America was the place where a man could stand up straight and not be afraid of his government. Where what you built was yours. Where nobody disappeared in the night. They came from Ireland, Germany and Italy and Poland and Norway and Greece and Ukraine. They came with nothing but a name and a willingness to work. And they made something. They made you. Do you know what they were running from? They were running from exactly this. Strong men who said they alone could fix it. Leaders who wrapped themselves in the flag while selling the country underneath it. Movements that told the people their problems were caused by weakness, by enemies within, by allies who were freeloaders, by the wrong kind of people in the wrong kind of places. Your great-grandparents heard those words before. In a different language. From a different man. With a different flag. They got on a boat. Your grandfather came back to Europe with a rifle. He was nineteen years old and he had never left his county before, and he waded through cold water at Normandy because somebody had to stop what your great-grandparents had run from. He watched boys die in French sand. He did it so that thing would stay dead. He did not do it so you could vote for its grandchildren. Because that is what this is. Make America Great Again. You know what they said in Germany in 1933? Make Germany Great Again. Same words. Same enemy. Same trick. The last thing you hear before the patriotism destroys everything you love. Putin is not your friend. Putin is the direct ideological heir of everything your family crossed an ocean to escape. The Soviet empire your Polish grandmother prayed would fall. The eastern shadow your Norwegian grandfather picked up a gun to hold back. That man. That system. That idea. And the president of the United States is his most useful voice. Russian state television plays his clips in prime time. As a victory lap. This is not about left or right. Your great-grandparents were not left or right. They were people who had seen what happens when a strongman decides he alone knows the truth, and they ran, and they built something better, and they handed it to you. And somewhere in Europe tonight, in the town your family came from, there are people who remember when America meant something. Who kept a photograph on the wall. Who named a street, a child, a dog after something American because America had earned that. They are taking the photographs down. Not because they hate you. Because they thought they knew you. Your people did not cross an ocean to build an America that hands Europe back to the east. They crossed it to get away from exactly the kind of man who is standing at your podium right now, telling you this is greatness. They would recognize the man you are following. They had a word for him. And one day your grandchildren will ask you what you did when it mattered. When the alliance your grandfather bled for was being handed to the enemy he fought. When it was still possible to choose differently. What will you tell them? Because the name you leave behind, the story your family tells about who you were in this moment, that is being written right now. Not in Washington. Not on television. In the choices you make this week, while there is still time to make them. Your great-grandparents made their choice. They got on a boat. They left everything behind because some things matter more than comfort, more than tribe, more than being told you are right. They built something worth protecting. It is not too late to protect it. We can have a real Senate impeachment trial for once. And with Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene already calling for Trump's removal, we can make it stick. We need Democrats in Congress to fight to remove this criminal and psychotic president and administration NOW.
Tara Palmeri@tarapalmeri

@gtconway3d says Trump’s impeachments failed for one reason: politicians turned them into a spectacle instead of a prosecution. Now he says if he’s elected to Congress, he’ll treat a third impeachment like a real case— with direct, prosecutorial questioning, not grandstanding.

Never thought I'd see the day when I agree with Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Marjorie Taylor Greene... ... but they're ALL calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked to remove trump from office. What a bizarre moment in time.

I don't want to hear any more bullshit about "both parties are the same." No, they absolutely are not. I'm not here to say Democrats are perfect — far from it — but they are not the same. Last I checked, in my lifetime, no Democratic president has started a large-scale war in the Middle East like George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump all have. Sure, Democrats have ordered military strikes and other operations — but nothing on the scale of what Republicans have done when controlling the White House. Name the last Republican who inherited a sinking economy or a recession from their Democratic predecessor. On the flip side, name the last Democrat who inherited a strong, growing economy from a Republican predecessor. Clinton inherited a weak economy from George H. W. Bush. Obama inherited the worst economic crash since the Great Depression from George W. Bush. Biden inherited a pandemic that had been botched as horribly as a president could botch it from Trump. Meanwhile, George W. Bush inherited a historically strong economy and a balanced budget from Clinton. From Obama, Trump inherited a strong economy in the midst of a historic streak of private-sector job growth. And from Biden, he inherited a growing (though still fragile) economy that, a year later, is worse by nearly every major economic metric than it was when he took office. In my lifetime, not once has a Democrat entered the White House without a massive mess to clean up from the Republican who occupied the office before them. Was Obamacare perfect? No — and it was never meant to be. It was a stepping stone to be built upon and improved. But guess what, it’s a hell of a lot better than anything Republicans have ever proposed to provide more Americans with better and more affordable health care — because they’ve never introduced anything. Meanwhile, Democrats dating back to the 1990s have been trying to make health care better for all Americans, including conservatives, whether or not MAGA wants to believe that. I dare any Republican voter to tell me any major policy or platform their party has backed in the past 20–30 years that has made Americans’ lives better. What policy proposals — other than "get a job and stop doing drugs" — have Republicans put forth to help end the homelessness crisis, fight drug addiction, or help the most vulnerable among us live better lives? True, Biden was bad on the border and border security — but at least Democrats don’t vilify human beings as "animals" and "monsters" like Republicans do. We can have discussions about how best to secure our border and manage immigration without dehumanizing people — most of whom are just poor individuals trying to make a better life for themselves and their families. On guns: Most Democrats want sensible reforms aimed at reducing gun violence. It’s not an effort to remove someone’s "right to bear arms" — it’s about addressing the epidemic of mass shootings and overall gun violence. Yet, to Republicans, guns have nothing to do with gun violence. Nothing at all. It's just "mental health," of which they've also done absolutely nothing to combat. Name a Democrat who came into office and immediately started a crypto business auctioning private dinners with undisclosed guest lists to their largest investors. Well, Trump did that. His family’s net worth has grown by over $2 billion since he came into office. By comparison, if you combined the total net worth of the Obamas and Bidens, it’s about 2–3% of just the net gains Trump has seen since returning to the White House.

Gen. Mark Milley: We are unique among the world's militaries. We don't take an oath to a king or a queen, or to a tyrant, or a dictator, and we don't take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We don't take an oath to an individual. We take an oath to the Constitution. It is that document that all of us in uniform swear to protect and defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We will never turn our back on the Constitution. That is our North Star.

Politicians give the orders. Troops take the blame. That’s the game. If the order is illegal don’t obey it. Because when the dust settles, history won’t remember who gave the order…only who carried it out.
