In this paper, Margarete Boos and colleagues successfully validate this approach by comparison with data obtained from human experiments. Due to the generality of the principle, this constitutes a promising approach for explaining a wide range of group behavioral phenomena!

They use a combination of exploratory & confirmatory analyses to find this association across 3 samples: in a two-sample (mixed student & community) exploratory study & a pre-registered replication study using an age- and gender-representative sample from the general population.
