to add onto what phoenixx said, the same could be said about the gay vtubing scene. queer men are still men and unfortunately, while so many male vtubers are amazing people, there is the minority out there that’s selfish, looking to manipulate and use you. so yes, you SHOULD be always be careful of the large and seemingly successful male vtuber that’s randomly in your stream, dms, or comments. don’t give into naivety and instead, take it slow. when you get invited to collabs, get lovebombed or gifted subs, or even are just constantly glazed by someone, i just urge you to think about it: what am i offering to this person? what’s their interest in me? it’s just like making friends at work. don’t get in too deep or reveal too much, too soon. unfortunately in this space, several male vtubers have approached me with intentions of getting closer to my larger vtuber friends, or because they’ve wanted something sexual out of me, like sexting or pictures. and a bunch of my male vtuber friends have had similar experiences. idk, just be safe y’all. it’s scary out there and again, while most people are so great and kind, it just takes one evil person to cause a great deal of harm.
