Few in the West realize just how absolutely critical U.S.-provided Lend-Lease aid was in propping up the former Soviet Union during World War II. (Josef Stalin himself acknowledged this at the 1945 Potsdam Conference.) Examples of Lend-Lease aid provided to the Soviet Union included trucks, tanks, locomotives, railroad cars, aircraft, ammunition, boots, blankets, and food valued at USD $11.3B (or USD $180B in today’s currency). Sherman tanks, American-made military trucks, P-39 fighters (see photo) and B-25 medium bombers were as critical to Soviet success as their own indigenous equipment. There’s a reason the U.S. was known as “the Arsenal of Democracy” during the Second World War. Today, Western military equipment, logistical support, intelligence, and financial aid keeps #Ukraine in the fight against the Russian invader, while at the same time #Russia continues to rapidly deplete its supply of tanks, artillery, aircraft, helicopters, and competent soldiers. Due to stiff Ukrainian resistance, the cream of the crop of Russia’s elite military formations are now a distant memory, largely replaced by unskilled conscripts and often led by inept officers. This is the time when the West needs to increase, rather than scale back, its support to Ukraine.

@TrueNorthCentre Far, far more people have been vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated you are 5 times more likely to end up in hospital. If you are not vaccinated you are 14 times more likely to end up in ICU. It's all about the ICU's and the unvaccinated are the problem.

Trudeau blames the latest lockdowns on the unvaccinated. Canadians are still being infected with COVID and are being hospitalized despite being fully-vaccinated.
