Hollywood is capable of making many 4 quadrant movies like Project Hail Mary. The will was not there for the last 10 years. Too many agendas. Even here, there's a bit of box checking, but luckily the costar is an asexual rock.

the real insight is that avatar was so culturally impactful and so much of mainstream culture draws from various elements of it people can’t even tell it’s the soup they’re swimming in now. “shakespeare was unoriginal” kind of thing.

the "Avatar has no cultural impact" argument falls apart when you realize the methods and technology developed for these films have shaped some of the biggest films and video games that have come since 2009.
