We have had some funding from an anonymous donor. This money will be used to print a second and updated edition of our Butterflies of Corfu A1 poster.

A bilaterally symmetrical gynandromorph of the Cleopatra (Gonepteryx cleopatra) and because this was in a sexually dimorphic species we could see this clearly. Stills from a video seen in the uplands of Corfu Wedenesday 19th June 2024.

CBC and the Ionian Environmental Foundation had an important discussions today with Vice Mayor, Spiros Chalikiopoulos and British Vice Consul, Alison Turney, to promote biodiversity throughout the fabric of Kerkyran culture and plan for the centenary of Gerald Durrell's birth.

Corfu Butterfly Conservation (CBC) is going to employ its first CBC Project Officer, working in partnership with the Ionian Environmental Foundation, the Capodistria Museum and the Rothschild Foundation.
The signing for this agreement took place on Wednesday 24th 2024.

The Corfu Butterfly Survey (CBS) is in its 4th year.
This enables us to see that the first sighting of the Southern Swallowtail (Papilio alexanor) were 2 weeks earlier this year than in any of the proceeding 3 years.

There are many locations where we have yet to find the Southern Festoon and this is almost certainly because of under recording. So if you are keen to help us fill in the blanks for this species, please record your sightings at corfubutterflyconservation.org.

Colleagues from the Capodistra Museum and Corfu Butterfly Conservation meet to formulise agreements about how we jointly employ our first project officer, funded by the Ionian Environment Foundation and the Rothschild Foundation.

Some of the participants in the first CBC committee meeting of the year. This was an immensely productive meeting and we are now moving forward with a number of initiatives, more of which later in the year.

Today is the final day of the third year of the Corfu Butterfly Survey. This year we have increased the number of butterflies we have recorded by 23.3%.

We are increasingly confident we will surpass 100,000 butterfly sightings by Dec 2025.
