today was my last class of the year, and maybe ever. i don't know yet whether i'll get another year of funding from columbia, nor what my future in academia will look like after that. it is so incredibly painful to finally reach this point and not know if i'll ever teach again.

In the last 3 months of 2024, I applied for 51 academic jobs; 3 in Denmark, 48 in the US. After waiting and waiting, the results are in: I made it to 1 shortlist, had 1 Zoom interview, and received zero offers. This market is so brutal. In other words: still looking for a job!

My postdoc position ends in August, so I'm looking for a job! I’d love to teach and do research at a Danish or US university, but I'm open to other jobs that involve reading/writing/speaking. Any leads on job opportunities for a Marxist philosopher will be greatly appreciated!

i hope my dissertation is one of those projects that researchers stumble upon and think "this is interesting, i wonder if they published a book" then go looking for the book only to discover the trail goes cold after the dissertation because the author had to leave academia

6 months after submission, I received an AI-maid review, alongside two brain-made ones, from a very respected journal. 10 entirely robotic/generic comments. Some make sense but it doesn't feel right to treat this as an actual review. Any advice on how to respond?

Does anyone else get a very sore jaw after masking for a long time?
I’ve only just noticed I’m gritting my teeth while I’m in an N95.
Thank goodness I’ve got a splint for sleeping or it feels like I’d wake up with cracked teeth 🦷
