Many people hate Islam without ever studying it.
They judge a religion of nearly 2 billion people by the actions of its worst followers.
Islam is not a scary religion.
It is a beautiful religion that many would love if they approached it with an open heart instead of inherited fear.

If you’re wondering why it’s relevant to call this a muslim grooming gang (83-90% muslim) and why we wouldn’t apply the same label to some random gang which happens to be majority Christian:
The reason is the perpetrators’ muslim identity was central to the crimes.
These men specifically targeted non-muslim girls, particularly white British ones, because they viewed them as inferior “kuffar” (infidels) whom they could exploit.
And they purposefully did not systematically abuse muslim girls in the same way.
There was a very clear criteria for their targets and religion was a significant part of who the rapists were and who their victims were.
And these victims were often dehumanized with slurs like “white slag” and “kuffar,” a mix of racial contempt and religious supremacism.
Ignoring the religious element erases the full context of what was done to these girls and why it was allowed to continue for so long.

Why do economic reality and people's perceptions diverge?
Social media makes it possible for people to spew half-formed thoughts while legions of others, who half-think about those half-formed thoughts, pass them on.
Very quickly, the world in people's heads becomes markedly different from the world in which they live.

And it must be pointed out to American progressives that the English, the Welsh, the Scots, the Irish, et al., have genuine ethnic roots in those places going back thousands of years. The most zealous supporters of strict ideological systems have long been women.

One of the craziest things about the UK rape gang scandal is that it's largely considered a 'right wing' concern.
