Hindustan Shipyard Limited observed Fire Service Week from 14-20 Apr 2026, with the theme “Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention,” reinforcing its commitment to workplace safety and community awareness. The week commenced on National Fire Service Day with impactful demonstrations. Capt. Ganti Venkateshwarulu (IN Retd.), Chairman and Managing Director commended the fire personnel for their dedication and emphasized the need for a proactive safety culture. Extensive outreach programs were conducted across schools, hospitals, and nearby communities through basic training and live demonstrations. Over 1,600 participants were engaged, reflecting strong public involvement. Various competitions were also conducted during the week to promote awareness, and winners were awarded prizes. Continuing its strong commitment to skill development and inclusive growth, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), under its CSR initiatives, has successfully trained 25 unemployed youth from weaker sections of society in Andhra Pradesh as certified marine welders at the Centre of Excellence in Maritime & Shipbuilding (CEMS). The three-month residential program (02 Jan - 30 Mar 2026) equipped participants with essential welding skills, enhancing their employability in the industrial sector. All 25 candidates successfully qualified for the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) 3G certification. Today, at the valedictory ceremony, Shri D. Srinivasa Rao, CGM, HSL, congratulated the trainees and highlighted the strong global employment prospects available to IRS-certified welders. He also commended CEMS for effectively transforming unskilled youth into industry-ready professionals. HSL Strengthens Public Healthcare in Parvathipuram Manyam (Aspirational) District Through CSR Initiative Demonstrating its continued commitment to strengthening public healthcare, Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) has, on 26 Mar 2026, donated 15 labour beds and 15 neonatal warmers to the Government Hospitals in Parvathipuram Manyam District. The initiative was inaugurated by Dr. N Prabhakar Reddy, District Collector, Parvathipuram Manyam, in the presence of HSL officials Shri D. Srinivas Rao, CGM (Commercial) and Shri Inaitula Baig, Company Secretary and V Prasanth, DGM (Finance). Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) observed the 55th National Safety Week – 2026 on 04 Mar 2026, on the theme *Engage, Educate & Empower People to Enhance Safety*, reaffirming its commitment to occupational safety, health, and environmental protection. During the week, awareness sessions, toolbox talks, safety quizzes, essay and slogan competitions, and training programmes were conducted to promote safety culture across the yard. The HSL Visitors Safety Handbook was also released on the occasion to enhance safety awareness among visitors. Addressing the workforce, Chairman and Managing Director Capt. Ganti Venkateswarlu, IN (Retd) said safety is not merely a regulatory requirement but a shared responsibility and a way of life, appreciating the proactive efforts of the Safety Department and the cooperation of all employees in maintaining a safe and accident-free workplace. Hindustan Shipyard Limited, in collaboration with ESI Hospital, Malkapuram, conducted a free pneumococcal vaccination drive on 25 Feb 2026 under its CSR initiative. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Kiran Easankarala, Director (Finance & Commercial), HSL, who highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and HSL’s commitment to community welfare. Over 220 beneficiaries participated in the drive, which was primarily aimed at adults above 55 years, as pneumonia poses greater risk among the elderly. Dr. K. Phanender, Superintendent, ESI Hospital, appreciated HSL’s initiative in promoting preventive healthcare. D. Srinivasa Rao, CGM, HSL and CSR Chairperson, Dr. V. Chandra Shekar Reddy, Chief Medical Officer, HSL and other officials from HSL and ESI Hospital were also present. HSL marked a significant milestone with the steel-cutting ceremony of the second 60 Ton BP Tug for VPA. Smt. K. Roshni Aparanji, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, VPA, pressed the CNC Plasma Cutting Machine button at the HSL Hull Shop today, formally commencing fabrication of Tug. The contract for construction of the second 60T BP Tug was signed on 22 Dec 2025, and within less than two months, steel cutting has commenced, demonstrating HSL’s speed of execution and project preparedness. The keel of the first tug has been laid and construction is progressing at a fast pace. Aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the two 60T BP tugs will modernise VPA’s fleet and strengthen its operational capability. The 32-metre tugs, designed for high manoeuvrability and enhanced escort performance, will support increasing vessel traffic, improve turnaround time, and enhance emergency response readiness. Capt. G. Venkateswarlu, IN (Retd), CMD, HSL, stated, “Partnering with VPA is a pride for us.” He emphasised that steel cutting marks the formal and tangible beginning of a vessel that will serve the dynamic requirements of Vizag Port. Highlighting HSL’s execution capability, he highlighted that major national programmes, including complex naval projects such as Fleet Support Ships, are being executed at a strong pace. He added, “A nation is not just its soil, but its people. It is the skilled hands of HSL’s workforce, MSME partners and the trust of VPA that will give life to this vessel.” Smt. K. Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) donated advanced medical equipment worth Rs 9.60 Lakhs to Lions Cancer & Super Speciality Hospital, Visakhapatnam, today under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The contribution is aimed at upgrading the hospital’s Operation Theatre facilities to enhance surgical care capacity. Speaking on the occasion, Cmde Rakesh Prasad, IN( Retd), Director (CP&P), HSL, highlighted HSL’s role in strengthening the local ecosystem and emphasized that healthcare remains a key focus area of its social outreach initiatives. Senior officials from HSL and Lions Cancer Hospital attended the event. HSL remains committed to strengthening regional healthcare infrastructure and supporting underprivileged communities.

Cmde Girideep Singh, IN(Retd) superannuated on 31 Jan 2026, after serving for six months as Chairman and Managing Director (Additional Charge). He also served as Director (Strategic Projects) from 05 Mar 2022, overseeing the Submarine and Ship Repair Business Units. During his tenure, major refit projects, including the Normal Refit of INS Sidhukirti, and SSP were completed and key programmes such as DSV and FSS were progressed. During this period, HSL has become L1 for the 18 NGFPVs for Coast Guard valued at Rs 3000 Cr approx. Consequent superannuation of Cmde Girideep Singh, Capt Ganti Venkateswarlu, IN (Retd.), Director (Shipbuilding), has assumed additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director, HSL. Capt Ganti Venkateswarlu assumed charge as Director (Shipbuilding), HSL on 29 Nov 2024 and joined HSL in May 2018 as Additional General Manager. An alumnus of the Naval College of Engineering, Lonavla, and the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he has served on front-line warships and in Naval Dockyard, Mbi during his Indian Navy career of over 25 years, including overseas assignment. At HSL, he has worked across Shipbuilding, Submarine and Ship Repairs divisions including Head of Business Development.

HSL observed the 77th Republic Day on 26 Jan 2026 with patriotic fervour. Cmde Girideep Singh, C&MD, HSL, unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade comprising Security personnel, NCC cadets, Scouts & Guides and students. Addressing the gathering, the C&MD highlighted the significance of Republic Day as a reminder of constitutional values such as Discipline, Accountability, Fairness, and Service to the Nation, which form the foundation of public sector organisations like HSL. The C&MD outlined HSL’s transformation journey, marked by strengthened governance, restored execution discipline, improved financial rigour, infrastructure modernisation, and system-driven decision-making. Highlighting Atmanirbhar Bharat, he emphasised that HSL is playing a key role in India’s indigenous shipbuilding drive, contributing to the Navy’s expanding fleet and maritime self-reliance. In this context, he announced that HSL has emerged as the L1 bidder for the construction of 18 Next Generation Fast Patrol Vessels for the ICG, stating that this is not just a contract, but a statement of national confidence in HSL. Recalling the conferment of Mini Ratna status, the C&MD acknowledged the collective commitment, adaptability, and perseverance of employees during challenging transitions, which have been the true engines of HSL’s recovery and resurgence. As part of the celebrations, commendation letters were presented to employees for exemplary service, prizes were awarded to competition winners, and a tree plantation drive was undertaken, reaffirming HSL’s commitment to sustainability, institutional strength, and nation-building.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited has emerged as the winning bidder (L1) in the competitive tender for construction of 18 Next Generation Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard, with an approximate contract value of Rs 3,000 crore. A total of six shipyards participated in the tender process, reflecting strong industry interest, and following detailed technical and commercial evaluation, HSL’s bid was selected as the most competitive. The vessels will be indigenously designed and constructed in line with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and indigenous defence shipbuilding initiatives. The contract will be signed in the coming months; the build period for the first vessel is 30 months, followed by subsequent ships at an interval of four months. This award marks a significant project win for HSL in the patrol vessel domain and reinforces its growing capabilities in indigenous defence shipbuilding. The FPVs are medium-range, weapon-fitted surface vessels capable of operation in Indian waters and around island territories in depths greater than 05 metres, with helo staging through capability and designed for tropical conditions. The vessels will undertake fisheries protection and monitoring, EEZ and coastal patrol, anti-smuggling, anti-piracy, search and rescue, interception of suspected contacts, day and night staging through and fuelling for ALH Mk III, and assistance to ships and crew in distress.

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) today, 22 Dec 2025, marked a significant milestone with the keel laying of the first 60T Bollard Pull Tug, indigenously designed and built by HSL for the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, and the signing of the contract for construction of the second 60T Bollard Pull Tug, further strengthening their long-standing partnership. Aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the two 60-ton BP tugs will modernise the port’s fleet and support future growth. The 32.5 m long Tug with a 60Ton Bollard Pull, designed for demanding port operations, will enable safer vessel handling, quicker turnaround and improved efficiency amid rising maritime traffic. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Madhaiyaan Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, said that time-bound delivery and quality workmanship build trust, and expressed confidence that collaboration with HSL would continue to strengthen both the port and the national maritime ecosystem.
