This seems like a pretty significant aspect of the current opinion landscape - voters expect taxes to go up whoever wins, but they expect Labour to spend the money on public services (which is what most want to happen - see e.g. recent British Social Attitudes reports)

If you love driving your car and want less congested roads, the best thing to do is support policies that expand bus routes and remove other cars from the road!
