I thoroughly enjoyed the first round of the #FIDECandidates. Caruana’s win against Nakamura was a strategic masterpiece, demonstrating the lethal combination of opposite colored bishops and the initiative. Even if he had a bad miss near the very end.

@atwell_rose This position does look very pleasant for Black (that bishop on d5 is beautiful while White’s on g3 looks like it needs something to do), but finding the next move is far from obvious.

I played an FM in round 7 of my norm event. We got a draw. He offered it in the position below. I felt I was better due to my more active minor pieces, but didn't see what to do next. I had less time too, so I accepted. I'm playing 2 IMs tomorrow and I need 1 point to norm.
