Last friday, our colleague Luis Hernández-Pelegrín (@luis_her_pel ) defended his PhD thesis entitled "Covert infections with RNA viruses in the Mediterranean fruit fly" in the Insect Doctors program, supervised by Salva Herrero and @VeraIDRos . Excellent job and defence, Luis !

Exciting meeting in Córdoba! More than 400 researchers informed about the last discoveries mainly in plant parasitic and entomopathogenic nematodes. Our group had a relevant participation, with Yolanda Bel and Baltasar Escriche as representatives!

Baltasar and Yolanda finished up their cool project for the EU by talking about their study on how plant bug fighters (nematodes) can be controlled with Bt. It was the last meeting of the EcoStack project in Naples, like the grand finale of the project! 🌱🔬🎉

This grant is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and the principal investigators for this project are Juan Ferré and Baltasar Escriche. Welcome aboard, Sergio!

Sergio Redondo is joining our lab and will pursue a PhD with an FPI grant associated with the project "Optimizing Bacillus thuringiensis-based bioinsecticides for the control of European Spodoptera species and addressing the threat of Spodoptera frugiperda in Spain (OBTES)".
