Centenarians live to an average age of 100 & now science has determined a piece of their secret: not the amount, but the composition of bacteria in their gut. The Japanese live to an average age of 107 and research has found that their gut diversity plays a primary role. Less diversity in the types of gut bacteria has been linked with frailty + vulnerability to chronic disease, illness in older adults. The Japanese diet is rich in omega-3, seafood, fermented foods such as natto which I posted about recently, seaweed, matcha green tea and more! All of which promote a more diverse population of gut microbes and reduction in overall inflammation in the body - a key to slower aging and optimal health. *Regarding Seaweed: Seaweeds are packed with nutrients & antioxidants - plus two “super antioxidants” that fight chronic disease (fucoidans & ecklonia cava) that boost energy, protect cells & thyroid, reduces heart disease risk & much more.

The best food doesn’t need nutrition and food labels. Ever needed a food label on an avocado? That’s why our grandparents were much healthier. To be healthier, aim to eat mostly natural food that doesn’t need food labels. Simple but powerful health advice.

What you eat first in the day is important. Try and choose healthy foods not just convenient ones. Many of the things people eat in the morning aren't healthy including; - white bread - margarine - cornflakes and refined cereals - cake - tea with sugar - sausages and bacon

When you eat dark green leafy vegetables, their nitrates get converted to nitric oxide in the body. Nitric oxide helps to reduce blood pressure and increase blow flow, which can mean better brain and cardiovascular health! #IFNAcademy

Vegetarian protein and animal protein are not equal in quality or in terms of their ability to function in the body. There is a LOT less leucine, methionine, taurine, and other amino acids in plant proteins compared to animal proteins. The anti-nutritional factors in vegetarian proteins also partially prevent protein absorption (and partially prevent vitamin and mineral absorption). So what does this mean? While the plant-based propaganda makes you think it is more humane and more environmentally friendly to eat plant proteins, it doesn't account for the simple fact that you have to eat SO much of it and end up with SO much less. The net gain to the environment is either nil or worse most likely as well in part because of this. Additionally, the data so far doesn't account for the loss of wildlife and biodiversity with vegan crops. The biodiversity of pasture-raised animals supports a healthy ecology that does not occur with vegetarian crops. While feedlots aren't the answer, common sense approaches and pasture-raised eggs, dairy, and humanely raised meats are. Some food for thought for this Monday! Just a small amount of olive oil each day has a powerful effect on health. 🫒 "The ancient Greeks were on to something when they referred to extra virgin olive oil as an “elixir of youth and health.” Just a drizzle (half a tablespoon) of olive oil showed lower rates of premature death from cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease and other causes compared to people who never or rarely consumed olive oil. medicalxpress.com/news/2022-09-b… #oliveoil #alzheimers #heartdisease #health

What can I do to help lower my cholesterol naturally? Eat nuts: Almonds, walnuts, and pistachios are excellent sources of unsaturated fats, fiber, and plant sterols, which can help lower LDL cholesterol. Enjoy a small handful of unsalted nuts as a snack.
