"For me, it might be simple: If you're worthy of the award and you haven't played 65 games, you should still get the award, but maybe you don't get the trigger to the money that goes with the award. I think that's one of the things that's not talked about. Some of these awards are gonna go to players -- not to say that they're not necessarily deserving -- but they're gonna get these awards and they're gonna get the financial bonus that comes with these awards and maybe they're not quite of the standard that would normally demand that... I'm all for the rule. It has to exist. We have to protect the fans. But I also feel like we gotta be smart enough to figure this out... To me, the money piece seems to be the obvious trigger."

Juneteenth is a Texas Holiday to celebrate the freedom of enslaved people in Galveston. Last time I checked, Texas is in America and it has nothing to do with Ghana or the rest of Africa.

@DayDayVM @darvidosiris You should read King Leopolds Ghost. The book has a good depiction of what white Europeans were doing to get slaves to send over to the Americas. It wasn’t just Africans selling Africans to whites. There were kidnappings, murders, threats and coercion. Mass violence to enslave us

@DayDayVM @darvidosiris Being labeled Pan African isn’t a bad thing. Huey and the Panthers (as well as other black leaders and orgs) had internationalist ideologies unless we condemning them too now. And if we aren’t taken from Africa there would be no Juneteenth. It’s all connected

It would mean that we’ve imprinted no genetic wisdom from their memories or experiences. Celebrate other things if we want. But not this.

@darvidosiris Why do Ghanaians need to make up a day about celebrating Black Americans being emancipated when the day already exists? No one is trying to take this day from us. We can and should all celebrate together this great moment in Black history.

Nothing is wrong, if the people in Ghana were genuine about hosting an event celebrating people being emancipated from slavery. Then they wouldn’t need to use Juneteenth, they would just create their own event celebrating the people that were emancipated from slavery.

The NBA needs to bring back real free agency. Teams will be less likely to tank if they have a chance at getting free agents. Make it so all teams can pay a supermax eligible player the supermax (35% of the cap) but only his current team can offer him the 5th year.

The NBA presented three comprehensive anti-tanking concepts to its Board of Governors on Wednesday, with modifications expected to each before a formal vote in May, per ESPN sources. 1. 18 teams in draft lottery (seeds 7-15 in each conference) – flattened odds, with bottom 10 teams having an 8% chance, the remaining 20% odds distributed in decreasing order for 11 through 18, and and a lottery drawing for all 18 picks. 2) 22 teams in lottery using 2-year record (seeds 7-15, plus the four playoff first round exits in both conferences). Lottery teams would reach a minimum win total floor in each season, such as 25 wins. If a team falls short of the floor, it gets slotted to meet the floor. Top 4 drawn as part of lottery, as is currently. 3) 18 teams in a "5 by 5" lottery – bottom 5 teams have equal odds for the top pick, with lottery formed for picks 1-5. Bottom 5 teams have a floor at 10; those that fall out of top 5 get sorted in a separate drawing.
